License plate lower 1/4 is curved under and the mounting bolts exposed - got sick of it getting bent by those snowbanks, eh?

I've restored that, was a holdover from previous vehicle that didn't have lower mounting points.

I'd consider it but for now, I'm happy with the semi-metallics and fresh rotors I recently put on. If I do anything in near term, would be braided brake lines from Technafit.

Tint and alignment completed at G.A.S. (https://www.facebook.com/GettyAutomotiveServicesLTD/), local independent that also did the sways and rear suspension install. Pics to follow when I can get it cleaned up.

Never heard about this. Are you saying you can take the rotors and callipers from a S60R and put them on a XC 90?

With its stance and black 5-star rims, it slightly reminds me of the SRT Grand Cherokee.

There's an all black one near me that I always check out when I see it driving. It's got a nice exhaust on it...

Swapped out the front HEICO B6 Bilsteins today - they're now for sale in the classifieds: https://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...s-for-Mk1-XC90

Replaced them with some B4 Touring struts. Didn't get a chance to drive it after, will have to wait until the drive in to work Monday.

Also finally got around to installing the eBay mudflaps. Found the front factory rivets to be a pin to remove but the rears were much easier.

When you installed the B4 front struts, did you end up trimming the bump stop to account for the lower springs? Any update on how it rides now?

I also bought the cheapo mudflaps, but used Amazon with Prime. Peeled off the manufacturer sticker and the Volvo logo was molded underneath. I did the rears and fastened with just plastic bumper rivets/fasteners I had in my can of plastic bits accumulated over the years. Now I think I have to do the front mudflaps after seeing how effective it is on yours.

Left the bumpstops as they were. It's only a 30mm drop and haven't bottomed out yet. They are the OE foam ones from my factory Sachs struts so I don't think it would make much of a difference in any case. I'll monitor to see if it's an issue though.

Ride quality is vastly improved over the previous combo. I have sold the B6 struts to a V8 owner, where I think they will be well matched with stock springs, but for stiffer lowering springs and the local bumpy roads, they were overdamped.

Have put 9 liters of Valvoline Maxlife ATF in over three drain and fills so far.

The old fluid is getting lighter in color. Probably do two more. It drains just about 3.1 liters each time.

Let me know how MaxLife works. I use it on my vehicles that I look after, but yet to use it on the TF-80SC's as Toyota WS is cheap vs AW-1 (as per my ATF thread).
MaxLife has worked great in Ford (Windstar), Acuras (TL, RDX), and 300ZX for years now.
Also works great for my PS systems that take ATF.
Great that it's back at Canadian Walmarts.

So far so good. C$31.97 for 5 liters here so good value I think.

XC90 currently has 70k kms so more preventative maintenance than anything. I noticed some oddity in shifting after a turn where it would seem to stick in 2nd and not shift to 3rd some times and I'm going Stage 2 soon so wanted to ensure transmission is in good kit before I start loading it up.

Contrast (Urbas) was suggesting removal of torque limiter for more snap but I hope to keep this vehicle for many years so don't want to cause any more stress to the system than needed.

New fuel filter. Pretty simple 15 min job.

Definitely picks up sediment. Happy I'm doing it at 70k kms and I've gone with FCP Euro for lifetime warranty replacements.

Calling it a night... Speedhut boost gauge from Broadfield Customs, ordered with Volvo font. Custom bezel pod from Adam Nonis, first XC90 one he's done. (The epoxy that's visible is my doing, pod was separated when it showed up even though package was excellent and bezel was very well wrapped.) Gauge ring is tight and it's pulling apart a bit as I'm trying to squeeze it into the dash opening. I'm going to need to Dremel some clearance tomorrow to get it to sit flush...

Pod had cracked due to the strain and came unglued (my epoxy job) when I tried to pull they ring off.

Changed to rubber bands and reglued, this time with a superglue type adhesive.

Had to rerun the signal wire as I realized the connector for the sending unit wasn't going to fit through the firewall access I was planning to use.

Spliced in T connector and connected the sending unit. No hose clamps with kit. Only expecting ~20 lbs of boost or so I think with the tune, but I think I should be putting some on.

      Boost gauge in and working.

Installed the Car Chemistry exhaust insert. I've got drone with the Yonaka exhaust. We tried a different resonator and it did improve some but then I installed the Snabb downpipe and the drone was louder again.

Haven't driven yet, will check in the morning. CC Insert came recommended from a buddy with a V70 wagon that had bad drone with custom exhaust prior to adding one of these. Shouldn't introduce too much backpressure but expected to break up the sound waves I hope. We shall hear tomorrow.

So, unfortunately feels like I lost a some powah. Will have to make up for it with tune but I'm leaving money on the table for sure with this restriction. 80% of drone is gone though. I could add steel wool between the discs but don't want to reduce flow any more than I have. I was hoping it wouldn't reduce that much given all the holes (basically louvers stamped into pipe) but it does seem to have choked it up some for sure.

I'm going to retract both statements. I think drone is only dropped by ~60%. Significant but definitely still there at 2-2500rpm.

Power not fully back but I think ECU is learning and it seems better than it was first thing this morning.

I can put a third disc on the insert but I think I'll start with steel wool packing between the current two discs to start.

I've got whole family in car tomorrow morning so will gauge the necessity of further improvements with the wife ;-)

      Wife said no good

Did more research, emailed Ken at Car Chemistry who said put one of the end caps on first, them consider adding third disc. He advised against steel wool for turbo application, particularly in downpipe.

Touched base with Gustav Urbas (Contrast) who will be doing my tune. He said remove it from the downpipe. Best noise/drone reduction occurs at at end of exhaust with a more restrictive muffler etc.

So, I moved the CC Insert to just before the tailpipe. Note the bluing on the bolt and insert itself from the heat in the downpipe.

Morning drive suggested it was louder actually. But I thought I noticed a reduction in drone when it warmed up. I couldn't confirm that on drive home though so need to do more driving tomorrow to confirm.

I'll probably add an end cap in this new location and hope this effectively emulates a stock type muffler with the increased restriction.

Tried this out tonight. Definitely makes things easier. Worth the $13 it cost.

Lost a rivet on one of the mudflaps, discovered while clearing snow out of the wheel well. Was loose and at risk of falling off especially with all the recent snow. New rivet and good again.

Put the end cap on the CC Insert. Just wired on temporarily to test tomorrow. Thinking I might need an additional disc still too, but will know better after driving tomorrow. I'll get a local fabricator, Better Motorsports, to tack the cap on, adding a third disc if need be as well.

Did you lose a plastic or metal rivet?

Not sure, but assuming Princess Auto plastic, replaced with aluminum.
