      2018 V60CC SPA platform

Are all the 2018 model year V6OCC built using the SPA platform? If not, when did use of SPA begin?

No. The 2018 V60CC is still on the old P3 platform. SPA will not arrive until later this year or next.

Thanks. I was confused with the 2018 MY in both threads for the V60CC.

Why is this forum labeled "SPA: 2018-" here on Swedespeed? Should it not be 2019- instead?

It is not clear yet when the next V60 will go on sale (let alone when it will be presented). 2019 cars will go on sale in autumn 2018 at earliest, and it is still possible that the next V60 will go on sale before. The emphasis in the title of this subforum lays on "SPA platform", however.

When I set it up, MY2018 was the target for the SPA-based S/V60. Its looking like it may be a MY19 vehicle. I'll update it once its confirmed.

Chris - With so many SPA models out (or about to be out), and them sharing a lot of features and design have you considered re-organizing the forum instead of by model into different sections by topic? Ex: General / Troubleshooting & Problems / Interior & Sensus / Exterior / Engine, Wheels, & Maintenance

I ask because there are multiple threads discussing Gas & octane, and I shouldn't have to go to the V90/S90 forum to find a post about modding in wireless charging which would also apply to an XC60 or XC90.

I have the opposite opinion on that.

As an example, it's annoying (only slightly, but still) that I have to tread through the classifieds for P3 specific parts when most of it is older FWD/AWD Volvo specific that I don't care about.

I also know that I had to do a lot of guesswork to figure out the shifter install based on XC60 instruction sets provided by a poster in the XC60 forum. I made my own S60 thread to help out with that.

Those are the times specifics are important. Sure, there might be shared parts like a shifter or DIM, but each model still has it's own quirks and solutions.

Over the years folks have said we have too many forums as it is but perhaps it's time to take a fresh look.

      I appreciate the recommendations.

The difference between XC/S/V in each series is very small. So I'd like a setup like following:

SPA platform, common for all SPA cars, powertrain, safety, driving assist, Sensus, etc.
SPA XC90/S90/V90/CC (2016+), mostly body, space, styling, etc
SPA XC60/S60/V60/CC (2018+, 2019+), mostly body, space, styling, etc
CMA platform, or CMA XC40/S/V40 (2019+), maybe just need one.

I never quite understood the need for XC models to separate from their S/V counterparts. It doesn't support the 40 60 90 series nomenclature shift.

XC comes out one year before S/V trim so the forum is created earlier. When S/V comes out, it looks ok to give them a new subforum.

There is no perfect way to create subforums. S and V models are always identic, apart from the trunk, but XC models are very different. They have different suspensions, different bodies, different interiors and sometimes different options. Therefore it makes sense to have common S/V subforums, but separated XC forums. Me for example, I'm not interested in XC models (but V models), so I wouldn't like to be flooded with XC topics that don't bother me. On the other hand, S topics always affect V models as well. I think the forum structure is good as it is.
