I think you all over in Europe have more variables to contend with than we do in the US. All the 2015-2016 XC70s I see over here are one of two trims and tend to be fairly well equipped, so it comes down to mileage and condition.

The dealers will order cars in for stock so spec them quite similarly. Few customers in the US will wait months for a factory build.

I prefer the US system, easy, loaded with options so indeed the focus goes to condition and mileage. Nightmare in Europe.

Yeah that makes sense. Though it also seems that, in the US at least, so many cars (Volvo or otherwise) don't have many a la carte options. Most things are part of a package/trim level, which defeats the purpose of a factory build since you can't customize things very much.

I realy want a new car... ??? does it make sense? Ooohhh decisions. Will these cars make it to 500.000km/310.000sm with preventive and scheduled maintenance? Why do I want something new? For the HK stereo, Leather Dash, keyless entry, ..lane departure, ACC... Sensus... on Call, illuminated Inscription on the door entry, illuminated coffee cup holders, passenger flood lights, Pedestrian detection/autobrakes, adaptive Suspension FOUR-C?

Do I need that? I have been fine so far.

Ran the T6 ~1,000km over two days, mostly highway (120-140KPH and 0o to -5oC). Shell Gold 91 exclusively.

Mileage calculated by the pump/odometer method: average 10.9l/00 or 21.6 US MPG. For comparison, I routinely ran (highway) winter ~8l/00 in my former 2.4T and about summer 8.6 in the T5M (assuming I stay off the loud pedal )

/and, of course, the bloody car threw a CEL

Nice subject. Been driving without the skibox lately and decided to do a few eco runs with the D5MY2011... for weeks...no braking, anticipation, slowly rolling away from a green light. Mix city highways.

Etc etc. I broke my personal record and got it down to 7.1L/100

Cant get it any lower... did all the possible.

According to the computer I'm averaging 23.2 mpg on 91 or 93 octane since I got the car, but the calculation method puts it at 22.5 mpg. Pretty even mix of city and highway driving, though my 'city' driving probably has less stop and go than most.

Sounds like you have no mirrored sunglasses sheriffs hanging around your town. Like they will get you anytime.

By the way is anybody listening to Jason Isbell at all on Swedespeed. I am covering multiple songs of him. Performing in bars etc. Will send vids if you want. Anyway, this guy is changing music and lyrics and Nashville at once. Wow. Huge fan. Check him out. He also drives the XC70.

Installed "Antracit/Off-black" Panel (39810536) and Blind (39870904) using both VIDA and also the "volvosweden" tutorial on YouTube (huge thanks to Yuri for another of his in-depth videos ). A bit fiddly, takes an hour or so. You'll need TORX 15 and 20 sockets and drivers, a longish, slim flat blade screwdriver- and a VOLVO "bone" tool makes things simpler. I warmed up the car interior to "hot" (it's ~ 0oC now)- I did not want to snap any plastic tabs.

Not cheap, but I prefer a dark console. A used black leather S80 arm rest arrives this week from Erie Volvo. Job then done!

NB: It also helps to have VIDA "Operation Numbers": 88232-2 [Center Console removal and installation] and 88201-2 [Cover/armrest tunnel compartment] to guide one through the swap.

I believe he has changed his waterfall & centre console to the black from beige?
Would be interesting to see what the contrast looks like from stock.

In 2011 the XC70 got a facelift, it got S-mode and one of the other things was a change of the waterfall with better looking “aluminum” trim. He changed to it. Same color.

Only Eric can confirm but I think he went from this:
      Capture.jpg

And replaced the console with this along with a black cupholder cover & armrest/lid:

That's why I'm intrigued to see how it looks in a beige interior.

What did you do with your XC70/V70 (2008+) today?

Correct. But SS Forum will not display my uploaded photos (I have alerted Administrator of this glitch) (EDIT: Maybe my photos will now upload?).

I will post a before-and-after once I get the armrest installed (it will warm up this weekend; I have the Erie Volvo Off-black unit cleaned up and ready to install).

Unlike Yuri at VolvoSweden, my new Off-black "Panel" does not squeak, so I did not have to re-engineer it like he did his.

Looks very different. Let me look again... hmmm. Beige, off black, ... woodtrim. It deserves Rdesign shifter maybe.

It is definitely not stock looking but I can appreciate what you are trying to achieve.
Have you still got the beige steering wheel as I think a black steering column, wheel and controls would work well with this.

Great with a beige interior and a good alternative to the R Design wheel if your interior is not black.

I think i prefer the old blue one, but we’ll see. I ordered a couple Chinese knockoffs to try out.

Of course, the badge isn’t really the point though.

[It appears that the two photos I am uploading now will display here at SS ] I'm pleased with the result, and now I'm hunting for a compatible P3 wreck with a complete Off-black steering column with wheel, covers, controls, etc.:

Before (an immense slab of grim Scandi-yellowish plastic):

You have now created a 3-tone interior. Black, beige and dark wood. Wow, different.

What does it make these interior combos if not 3 tone?

I like what you've done. Definitely +1 for the black steering column as a priority!

What did you do with your XC70/V70 (2008+) today?

Snowfoamed (Merry xmas) the hell out of it...love the HEICO spacers and the eyebrows too, very noticeable underneath the foam...

Note how the foam has difficulties sticking to the paint due to the ever lasting PolishAngel glasscoating.

Agree, long story short; you need 19” wheels tomorrow. You deserve it.

I just matched the numbers to Duracell (or any manufacturer) from the hardware store. Works fine.

Thanks man!!! Useful info again. Barcelona good city to air out the car every day. Left the car at a interior detailer for 3-days. Like new. Moonroof open even during autumn/winter.. Used snowcake by PolishAngel to complete the detailing...

Now I am not sponsored by PA but to those performing a detailed cleaning please please consider PolishAngel. Easy to use and awesome results. Not cheap at all
