One more thing. What APP are you using with your device. There is many out there. I am running iOs.

What did you do with your XC70/V70 (2008+) today?

Alright -so I spend hours and hours this morning looking for a OBD2 scanner. Found 100 scanners, watched YouTube video’s and simply decided to go for the most expensive one. “BlueDriver”. $99 on Amazon with a great free app, looks professional and frequent updates by a great support team. I am old fashioned at times and still believe that going for the cheapest option will be often dissapointing.

      https://youtu.be/ccsKnclAxWQ

-Bluetooth connection, plug n play, no cables no nothing. Just what I need being an amateur. I don’t know anything about codes and clearing codes yet but it will be interesting to see what the BlueDriver will detect inside my old car. Also time remaining before ENGINE shutdown for proper turbo cooling etc.

Guess clearing a code means the “failure is gone” or is the code gone but the failure still there lol
Well, I will find out soon, not much to do anyway these days. Gives me something to do. Finally some info on fluid temperatures like oil and coolant too. Will report back after a full SCAN. BlueDriver is arriving the 8th of June 2020.

What I like about Amazon is you send your stuff back with a 99% money back guarantee. No questions asked.

Never tried the BlueDriver, but I get plenty of Volvo real-time parameters in Car Scanner Elm Obd2 app.
And it shows the detailed oil level (in mm) in Drive-E VEA engines.
App has iOS and Android version, costs 5-10 $. Works with any ELM327 adapter.
The full version can be downloaded free for testing, for a couple of days, so that anybody can check which sensors are available in their car.

Thanks, looks good too. I was told the BlueDriver scans the same plus more since they pay (reason $99) for licensing etc. I will try and see if I like it. If not I will send it back. Anybody else with OBD experiences?

Pulled the wheels off Maxamoose today because I have a slow leak in the left rear... picked up a nail somewhere... gonna get that fixed and the wheels balanced because we had a light shimmy around 60-70 MPH.

Also eyeballing the front and rear suspension in preparation for Koni FSDs. Doesn't look too tough, hear the fronts are a lot of fun but have a lift and all the tools, how bad could it be LOL?

Well that was disappointing. Waste of money realy. Too much info. Nice for badly maintained cars I guess. No faults.

      Back to Amazon. bye bye...

I did find out that my BMS doesn’t need to be reset when changing the battery lol

Installed a hitch receiver for our bike rack and while I was back there I removed the rear load floor and channels on either side and hosed everything off - they were pretty nasty. Left everything out in the 85 degree sun for a few hours and the stuff looks so much better. Those channels just collect stuff.

I got the Draw-Tite Class III from etrailer. I couldn't be happier with the product and the install.

For anyone else looking for a hitch, I got mine from AutoAnything for $115 shipped. The part number is 75916 for the Draw-Time class III (2" receiver).

And Rrrracer, if you install one, there's no need to replace the bumper bolts. SOMEone who worked on the car previously and took off the old hitch seems to have left the longer bolts in the bumper. Boy, THAT was a fun realization when trying to install it on the new one.

Clearly it went back together fine with the longer ones, but if you want the originals, I have a bunch now....

Pricing is all over the place on these things. It's $209 at autoanything now. https://www.autoanything.com/towing/...-trailer-hitch

I paid $141 for the same item and that was after seeing it for $120 and change. Now it's $170 or so.

LOL thanks man, it is on the list

I ordered a set of Koni FSD shocks for M'Moose today... the rears are about 2-3 weeks out so I will continue to exhibit patience... but I am eager to upgrade the suspension on this critter!

Wow. I'm interested to hear how that goes. More power in the new one just highlights the ship-like nature of these things.

No question in my mind that this car can be made into a serious driving machine that also continues to excel at what it was originally designed to do; transport people and things to places most don't go to, and do it in pragmatic comfort and style.

What did you do with your XC70/V70 (2008+) today?

Anyway, COVID forced "my" airline to reduce flights drastically and so I am forced (I kinda like it...) to do local cheap 1000 mile roadtrips instead of stupid and expensive vacations. Going from lakes to mountains and sleeping in 3 star hotels now, just what the doctor ordered.

My wife she likes it. Well that's not the point. I want to buy a 12V trunk-cooler since all the XC's have a plug in the cargo area. No way I would buy the OEM VOLVO. Ridiculous price. Anybody any feedback on these 12V coolers? Can hardly imagine they cool well. Think they just keep it cool when you pre-cool your food and drinks and mix it with ice cubes. Thanks guys...

These split into 2 types: Expensive and less expensive.
The Expensive ones work like your refrigerator/freezer at home and use a refrigerant & heat exchanger so can keep the contents really cold.
The cheaper electric coolboxes have a simple heat exchanger that will only keep the contents 10-20 cooler than the surroundings. Some of these ones also have a heating circuit to keep contents warm.

I received this for fathers day as a gift.https://www.webstaurantstore.com/cat...8aAqijEALw_wcB My daughter lives with her husband in another state, our first grandchild is expected in a month. So weekend road trips are going to happen frequently. I also use this on my boat, sitting in the sunshine all day I needed a cooler that ice would last a long time in. My ice hack for this is reusing Gator aid bottles washed and filled with water, then frozen and packed into the bottom of the cooler. At a fraction of the cost of a 20qt. Yetti, this is great.
Oh yah, the Volvo. Topped up my ac yesterday. Who's idea was it to hide the low pressure fitting under the firewall cowel? Also found out that the 134a cans have a valve built into the top. I bought a $3.00 adapter off of Amazonhttps://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...?ie=UTF8&psc=1that worked perfectly with my ac fill hose kit.

AC's are filled by weight though iirc, after draining completely (by vacuum). Overfilling could damage it.

Of course your correct, if you enjoy going into the dealer. I rely on my 40+ years experience of being a dyi mechanic. I'll post back if my ac blows hot. Paying someone to do what your able to takes the the fun out of being a car enthusiast.

I have a flood title 2013 xc70 with 5k miles on it, and I have been working through the fault codes for the past few months.
Today I discovered the Solar sensor and Twilight sensor weren’t working because they weren’t connected. I removed the cluster to be able to reach the wire, but whoever pulled the dash last time had pinned the connector between the vent plumbing. So, I removed all the dash bolts to pull it up a half inch to free the connector.
The beam steering headlights finally work!
