      Try using the window/door sill edging sticky foam. Few strips could fix it. Iíve had one since 2005 and havenít had an issue with foam. I have two of those in my car, one side each.

Inside has to be trimmed away more since it is closer to he mirror and therefore a worse obstruction. Basically it is a mess no mater what but oh my the improvement is stark.

      Maybe wet sand I guess to avoid melting? What a mess that would be.

      I guess I have added visibility because...wagon. Peripheral is also key with that. The S does have massive visibility issues with that massive C pillar and sloped roof.

      Mastic tape (not masking tape) comes to mind as well, that stuff would be great for that I think. I've used some for things on my S60 such as lining the center console cup holders with it.

      I don't think that's the issue. The issue is that whoever designed this mirror housing apparently never read the SAE mirror guidelines so, if you adjust your mirrors to the SAE guidelines, half of the convex part is completely useless.

      Interesting idea. I'm also thinking of just filling it with something and painting. That would probably look best. Doesn't have to be strong just has to stay there.

      Is it because the US never got the convex mirrors so it was never an issue?

      It makes the issue more noticeable. DOT mirror has the same issue but the portion of the mirror that is blocked doesn't do much, unlike the ECE mirror. I'll be able to see things off my B pillar now. Before I was doing good to see things off the aft corner. With a DOT mirror, I would have crashed by now lol.

      Lol the issue is I got spoiled growing up in P80s with ECE mirrors. Visibility is so good. There are no blind spots; I never have to turn my head around to change lanes/merge/etc. Then you get to a P2 and there are blind spots.....

      I mean...I'm driving it almost daily ATM (well, as often as I drive...which is barely twice a week). I'd be happy to make that upgrade.

      I've never had any issues with the P2 mirrors, either DOT or the Euro spec. I've had vehicles with worse. From where I sit, I have no side visibility issues. I might lose the outer 5% of the field of view with the convex mirrors. Not enough to cause issues for me.

      Iíll check $ wise. Pretty cheap usually. Super easy install on the p2, possibly involved in the 740 depending on type of mirror base.

      Lighting proof of concept. I'll spare you from the grizzly pics of the housing carnage. They look bad. But the results are excellent. Now to enjoy for the weekend and then find a way to cleanly execute. I have some ideas.

      All photos shot on my Nikon D700, 50mm 1.4 AF-D at 1/100 sec, f/4, ISO 2500. Car did not move between photos. I just did these across the padays and forgot where I stood the first time lol.

      Hmmm wonder if it's maybe just pissed about the voltage. Cleared and we shall see if it comes back on the way home.








      Well one of lights is pointed at the street but I think one D2S 5 is putting out more than I was getting from the ABL.




      And OMG it's insane with everything on. Even with one of them pointed at the street.







      When you're visiting your history major friend who's making 3x as much as a bartender than you are as an engineer




      Snagged the last driveway spot nobody else dared attempt to use lol.




      Back to lighting again.....adjuster pulled out.



      I wanted to find a clothes hanger to fix it but apparently there are no metal clothes hangers in Charleston. So I used a twig and some e tape I had been using to patch a hole I had to cut in the back of the housing.




      Looks good. Let's see how long that twig stays there lol.

      I used to beg my folks to stop and see Pedro at SoB. After a half dozen or so trips down that way my folks finally said "yes" and I have to say the best part was that sign from the highway, lol.

      Lol, I had no idea you were headed down to SC - think I parked next to you Friday afternoon at the rest stop south of Fayetteville, NC (in the Oyster Gray XC90 V8). Saw the T5, MA tags and thought, ďHmm what are the odds thatís Jared? Nah, he wouldnít be this far south.Ē

      We were in Charleston yesterday, Hilton Head now until the morning then head back home.

      Yes you did! I remember that XC! But hey what is a road trip without randomly encountering another SSer. Would have been fun to meet you but you never know where I might turn up next haha. I'll be heading back in the morning, too....
