      JaredR's 2007 S60 T5 M66

      So I went to look at this today for a long term daily, taking delivery next week . It's going to be epic. Has every option but sport kit and good wheels. ScottishBrick kept telling me I'd be missing out if I didn't buy it.....I was like alright I'll go look at it. The whole way there I kept wondering why on earth I was driving an hour in awful Friday traffic to go look at a black sedan, and then I drove it. It was amazing. Can't wait to start cruising around in this thing. Figured I'd start up a thread here since it's basically a FWD R with a 4C delete so it's more relevant here than in the S60 forum. Yes it will be getting Brembos and better wheels!

      125k. Yeah you're not the only one who's surprised LOL. I think I finally understand why you said P2s make great DDs now that I've experienced a good one! My old opinion appears to have been based on a lot of really broken P2s

      Yes Jared. This is how Will felt about XC70s until he drove the reincarnated Pele. Once you drive an R for a few thousand miles you will want AWD. Though DSTC does a good job of mitigating spin in these cars.

      Congratulations on the find, obviously, but are you at all worried about using a MT as a daily? I thought you had bad traffic as part of your commute, no?

      No not at all. I hate automatics in traffic. I probably drive in Boston rush hour 50-60x/year and every time I do it I use our NAm. The close ratio 6 speed and unfathomably light clutch will make it even better.

      125k and dealer serviced almost its whole life. It needs better wheels and zLines. And a trunk because the clear coat is shot. That's about all I was able to find when I drove it. Even appears to have Volvo blue coolant .

      Can't hypermile this Jared The M66C is great in traffic and for acceleration but 6th is short. You'll also hate Brembos because you will no longer have a turning radius...

      Glad to hear! Did you get a tune on it yet? I do miss owning a car with 20k miles on it because it was pristine!

      All I can say is no AWD will translate to massive wheelspin with any amount of power. When I disable DTSC and AWD it spins ridiculously through first and into second until I let off.

      Lol I get shiit fuel economy in traffic anyway. Last summer I was dailying my T-5R in and out of Boston during rush hour for a couple weeks and I was getting 15 mpg on a good day. That sucked. Maybe short term this S60 will go on longer trips but those jobs will fall to the 850s for the most part in the long term. Road trips in a sedan don't make sense, anyway, especially given that I'm just short enough to sleep in the back of a P80 estate. Will and I were ripping up the Merrit in my T-5R this afternoon reveling in how awesome its current setup is for a GT car........the AW50-42LE is so much fun on roads like that but man does it suck in traffic. My 850R is going to be optimized for long distance driving with the wide ratio 6 speed so that probably won't be very good in traffic when it's done, either. I'm super excited to finally have something of my own that'll be good for that.

      Nope, no 4C. It definitely will be getting tuned at some point! First priority is to figure out what I want to do for wheels so I can get a set of zLines for it (it's on Pirelli P6 now.....those gotta go asap). I think I'll probably drive it in stock form for a while once that's done. This car is way outside of my current knowledge base, so I need to fix that before I start messing with it. It's going to take some time to figure out what the goals for this car should be.-

      Yeah I'm very familiar with this issue with my T-5R. Sticky tires are essential. That car is a real handful when it's cold and my PZero AS+ are not feeling so sticky. Fortunately this one has the advantage of modern technology and is also torque limited in 1st and 2nd so that will certainly help with the traction issues.

      When stock, you don't get much wheel spin. These engines are very linear and we have turbo from 1800rpm. Very very easy cars to drive daily. (I don't have any experience with the R's, so I don't know on how they behave).

      Agreed on a deal for a set of Capella! Just need to un-plastidip them and order up a set of zLines and I'll be ready to roll when I take delivery of the S60 .





      ScottishBrick gave me a big T5 badge last night since the tiny T5 badge sitting all by itself looks kinda silly to me. This should be a bit better.

      Man- I like the ones you have on there. I guess to each his own. Need more pics of this car- it looks good. Capellas a lot lighter? Clean up easier? No rash and the nebs do? Iím missing something other than the need for a nice set of tires.

      Oh those are Orpheus that it's on right now lol; if it had Nebula I wouldn't mess with it. That would be cool too. There were a bunch of wheels that I would have been fine with....Capella were one of them and just happened to be the first deal I happened upon. Also not trying to copy my dad given he has the 17" Nebula on his T5 SE. I like that we have different wheels on every car in the fleet.

      Idk what to do with the Orpheus. Might use them to store the 850R on so I can finally dump the Persus and Antlia and clear out the last of the truly junk wheels.
