03s back home. Tweaks to the tune completed, all 200k services done.

Forgot just how much I love the euro xenon lights until I went out for a pizza last night:

Also ordered up the interior bumper components for vR bumper conversion. It’s a stop gap measure but will at least look better for the time being.

Looks nice. At least you don't have an "R" on the grille! I thought you vowed to never have any R parts on your car?

Rs are parts cars for the pure volvos. I have R hood cluster, R door pulls, R forward rear suspension toe arms. My k24/airbox is from a T5 and my greens were new.

Doesn't someone sell the little plastic inserts to cover the wiper holes?

Front clip washed with dish soap (grease and wax cutter), iron and tar removal treatment, rewashed, clay’d, dried, waxed with sonax hybrid liquid wax:

I only did the front clip since the hood and bumper are new to the car and everything else is still very nicely waxed.

Agreed. Looks good. Gotta get me some Sonax wheel cleaner.
So what’s the list of parts you ordered to add the bumper? Does it fit correctly with no weird rattling/flex? I can’t imagine YOU would do that, but curious. What little lights have you added down low? Why not in the normal fog area of the r bumper?

I bought the wagon internal plastic part new from volvo. Fits, well, like it was made to. The “little” lights are the same aux driving lights I’ve had on the car since last winter. 3500 lumens each. Finds all the deer. I played with mounting them where the fogs are and it was almost a perfect fit but I was running out of daylight and didn’t want to hack anything up just yet. R fogs were functional so they’re being used as fog/DRL currently.

Decided to see what would happen if I put D2S bulbs in my D2R E Codes...

      Lows

      Lows and Highs

      Lows, Highs and Driving Lights

Street shot that shows that theres too much glare and scatter. I didnt get flashed going around the block but I dont think the pattern is crisp or focused anymore.

From the first aiming session of the e codes w/correct D2R

Cutoff is cleaner, the rise is more gradual, less "splash".

I can only imagine how bad this swap would be in DOT lights......dont do it.

Cosmetic tweaks time. Deleted the remainder of the stock air box mount from the engine bay (reinstalled the bolts if I ever do the panel filter revision) and tidied up the brake booster hose length and some of the harness wiring jumble that sits behind the headlight.

Then, onto grille and front end tweaks:

      Easy masking job

      Acceptable finish after 4 coats

Fogged the condenser really quick and put the bumper back on. Plate mount was tweaked for a better fit and I hit the plate nuts with the same matte black just cause

Looks nice. I'm still looking for a black paint for the grille that will hold up to the abuses of winter. After 1.5 years, mine's definitely due for a repaint.

So I painted this one with rustoleum plastic paint and i know its not going to last.....I have painted all the other p80 grille inner eggcrates with Krylon fusion matte and they have held up very well. Just lay it on thick.

Speaking to the choir here, but prep and LOTS of even, thin coats makes a world of difference.

I might try a urethane based automobile paint next time vs. the Krylon Fusion I used last time. Maybe coat it with a true epoxy clear coat.

We could always default to 019 black and use real automotive paint.

Is that the one by TME or did that coming later?

Its the earlier one with the more square muffler, later ones have the more oval muffler.

      ScottishBrick's 2003 Mystic V70 T5 Manual Wagon

      Going back a few pages,

With regards to fitting a S60 front end. At least with regard to face lift cars.
The frame rails are longer on the V70 by a couple of inches, and the crash bar is different as well.

There are several smaller different parts as well.

I don’t know if this the same for earlier cars, or how R cars are.
      Saffron V70R 1998 Auto FWD,
Silver 2006 V70 D5 manual FWD, fixing slowly.
Silver S60 D5 manual , need a petrol one. Good parts for the V70 D5.

Bar is the same as far as fitting the bumper is concerned. Just need to gut the bumper internals and trim a few spots to make it work.

R bumpers are all V70 bumpers. The S60 variant has a thicker internal support to make up the difference.

It may be on early cars, but my V70 and S60 are both 2006 and there is a lot of difference between the two crash bars.

You could possibly trim away the internals to make it fit.

I would highly recommend doing the chicken wire trick. Seems ghetto but works great lol. Also you better hope it was off a wagon or good luck getting the tips off...

Oxyacetylene will loosen the toughest stuck exhaust parts. I have no desire to make it any quieter. Sport exhaust for spirited driving, touring exhaust for road trips. 2 bolts and 3 hangers makes quick work of swapping it out

This is true! I'm still working out how to get an internally valved muffler to replace the Ipd muffler. That way I can have it controlled by a button for a near straight pipe and very quiet mode. Could add the button to the center console to make it look like factory.

Toying with analyzing the stock resonator and making a hemholtz resonator for the IPD exhaust since TIG welding will be happening tomorrow.....decisions decisions

1/4 wave resonators work well, if you have the space for one.
