My measurements with a calibrated mic and the Audio Tool app are slightly higher.

      Not sure this means anything.

Yep, not sure this means anything either. Iím quite sure youíve improved by 2-5db overall at least.

I used an app and no special mic, I went purely with the idea that sound volume, while it might not be accurately measured because of my equipment, the drop should be "approximately measured" since I replicated the same tests with no changes in equipment.

I speculate that if we had better equipment to measure we would find that the sound waves in the cabin are less "noisy," not in volume so much as scattered lots and lots of different frequencies. With the deadening what comes into the cabin is a "cleaner frequency" and therefore easier to mentally block out.

I agree a relative measurement should be valid - same car, app, mic, location, speed/RPM, and road - both before and after. A view of the spectrum before and after would be very useful. You could see which frequencies get attenuated.

Started compiling all the receipts for part/labor expenses for my 3 years on Volvo ownership. Holy carp!

I broke things into 3 categories:
      1) Maintenance - anything with a defined replacement interval.
      2) Repair/Replacement - parts replaced due to damage, wear, or preventative action.
      3) Upgrades - anything to improve the asthetics or functionality of the car.

So far, excluding labor costs and the little things (oil changes, bulbs, wipers, etc), I've spent close to what I paid for the car! The breakdown is as follows:

      1) Maintenance - 2% of total
      2) Repair/Replacement - 45% of total
      3) Upgrades - 53% of total

Need to add up the labor costs next. Also, have unaccounted for JY parts.

Hopefully, my wife never finds out!

You're lucky! My wife is not a car person, hence why she drives a 2012 4cyl Camry. But, with the money I save not having to repair it, I can spend on the Volvo!

Apparently Covid robbing her of destinations is also robbing of speed.

Though, similar story as you tonight. Nearly saw a brand new corvette wreck itself hitting the gas when executing a u-turn tonight in a 35 mph zone. Stimulating the economy by buying tires I guess? Wish I had a dash cam to capture the spins.

Sounds like a case of "nice car, lousy driver". I had to dispatch a DB in BMW 128 today.

Donor transmission in hand! 370 mile round trip. Candidate cooler from a 2013 Dodge Dart. Hopefully, the built-in thermostat doesn't thwart flushing it out. If so, I'll grab an aftermarket unit.

      T-minus 11 days to transplant.

Nice to find places that actually take the time to properly disassemble and prepare parts for storage. No slashed hoses. Everything removed and properly capped.

I'm guilty of that too, especially if things aren't cooperative!

Check with your Mopar guy. I suspect that the answer is either use a heated flusher setup or replace it. There's a C-clip on one side of the thermostat, so maybe it can be disassembled?

Well, I took the hoses off and was able to fill it with mineral spirits through the inlet side. So, the the thermostat might be open at 75-80 deg, at least partially. I was able to fill and drain from either side. After the 3rd fill, slosh, and drain, it came out clean. Which is a good sign. I'll run some cooler cleaner through it later.

Installed the secondary transmission cooler and remote filter today. The cooler is from a 2013 Dodge Dart. It fits very well. It has plastic clips that go through the condenser fins to hold it in place. I put two 90 deg brackets on top just to make sure it doesn't come loose. I thought about mounting it below the crash bar. But, that area is more subjected to rock/debris damage. I rock taking out the AC condenser isn't fatal. But, taking out the transmission cooler could be. The filter is mounted in the pocket in front of the left front wheel.
