The date of manufacture is the 47th week of 2016. That's a little disappointing. So, already 2 years old.

Yes. Granted, Nokians probably don't turn over real fast. Not worried. I'll still hit 30k-32k before they are 6 years old.

Starting to tear open the headlights for the projector retrofit. Not easy. The 05+ plastic lenses apparently don't use butyl rubber sealant. Being 12 years old and dried out doesn't help. 30 min @ 150 deg, nothing. Another 30 @ 175, nothing. Now at 15 min @ 225. Starting to chip away at it. A sharp utility knife around the perimeter seems to help break the seal. Need to get that first corner out.

After 2+ hours, got the first one apart. Still need to figure out how to get the reflectors out. No obvious screws any where. A lot of hardened sealant to remove. The housing is slightly distorted where I had to pry on it. I'll work it back with the heat gun.

Okay. No need to pull the reflectors, as the Mini H1 7.0 fits without any cutting. Unfortunately, I can't say the same about the Mini Turbine shrouds. They need to loose about 1/8" top and bottom. The 100mm halos will still fit. Not sure if I'm going to trim the shrouds, or look for a different style.

After looking for shrouds under 105mm, and only finding one (that I didn't care for), I decided to trim the shrouds I have.

      Not too bad!

The 2nd light only took about an hour to get apart. 15 min @ 230, then carefully pry around with a screwdriver to "crack" the sealant. Then, cut the sealant with a utility knife. Then, back in the oven for 15 minutes. Starting with the outside corner seems to be the best. Pry with a screwdriver around the perimeter until you can get your fingers on it enough to start pulling it apart. Note, the black plastic for the housing will deform fairly easily at this temperature. You'll have to take a heat gun to it to work it back into shape.

Don't know if I'd go much higher than 230 deg. The polycarbonate in the lens is supposedly good to 265.

Fingers crossed. The ones I installed in December of 2018 were 50th week of 2016. Maybe I’ll be lucky.

Headlights are looking awesome, man! Kudos for tackling the polycarbonate lenses! What are you going to put back in? Will the lenses you have clean up enough?

Sand the crap out of them, then coat with SEM Solaray, which is a UV cured headlight coating. Supposed to be comparable to OEM UV treatments. At $50 a can, it better be good!

At least one of the new ones is week 16 of 2017! Desperately need to wash the car now, the tire install stuff is all over the wheels, and it was 830 by the time I got home, and 40 degrees.
I watched them like a hawk because I didn't take them loose, and asked the guy to back into the parking space when he was done so I wouldn't have the same sonic panic I saw a few weeks ago here on line with Fred's VR.
I'm sure they hate having a magnet, but hey - I waited a long time to get this car and I'm super careful with it.

Nope. But, if I want the new sealant to work well, it needs to be done.

Absolutely! Worth every minute, I'm sure. But just the kind of mind-dulling tedium that will drive you a little crazy. Haha.

Wheels are painted. Went with hypersilver over black. Need to wait 30 days before I can mount the tires.

That looks reallllll good. What paint kit did you use? I'm thinking of refreshing my Talos
I had them professionally done. Came to me and took care of everything. The tech did some test sprays of different base and color combos. Originally thought they might be too dark. But, turned out great.

Wow. That's awesome. A lot better than the wheel shop we've used that sends wheels back different colors and with the sand blast media still on the wheel. They even powder coated over a wheel weight.

Out of town last weekend. Rain this weekend. Heading to CA Sunday. I have 2 four day weekends and the week before Carlisle to do all that. Not to mention spring yard work. Probably of success is low.
