Return them. The production date is too old that’s the OG shipment and they’re defective.

Cleaned up my JY find rear cargo mat. Cleaned up pretty well. Has some blue spots on it. Looks like maybe paint. But, up to the task of protecting the rear carpet when needed.

Also, swapped out the winter floor mats for the summer mats.

Simpletire wants me to take it to an installer who will need to verify that it's defective before I can return it. That's a pain. It'll have to wait until I get back from business travel.

I interpreted their guarantee as no questions asked as long as they weren't mounted? Lovely hoops you have to jump through

Well, they sent a 2nd email asking for a picture, which I included in the initial problem report to them. So, they have it. But, I sent it again. Not real clear on their communication.

First door done! Premium audio speaker and Noico 80 Mil sound matting. Also sprayed some cavity wax into the lower doors to add some extra protection against the ravages of winter.

Driver's door done! Just the passenger door remains. The Premium speakers definitely need more than the stock amp. They are a big improvement, but don't get as loud as the stock speakers. They've also seem to have toned down the symbilance the stock speakers are cursed with.

There's the easy part. Fishing the harness up to the radio isn't as easy as VIDA makes it sound. I can barely find room for a couple of fingers, forget about the big connector on the end of the harness. My back is starting to let me know I'm not 20 something anymore. Time for a break.

You're really doing this the hard way.
Loosen up the console and side panels first!
      Carpet OUT too.
See your other post about the bolt, and if it makes you feel any better you can also duct tape the bracket to the side of the tunnel.

Console side panel is off and front carpet is loose. I can get the harness into the console. The problem is that there aren't many openings behind the radio big enough for the harness connector, let alone my hands. Starting behind the radio and working down might be better.

I have found the best way is to also pull the radio/ccm out. You want to get the harness in/under through the right side steel of the console then through the middle of the ducts to give enough slack to plug in the connectors. Don't be afraid to be a little brutal. Sorry, that may not be much help, my description is not very intuitive.

Getting the harnesses out of a donor car is a pain because they are taped to other harnesses. Once you get past that, start tugging away. Trying to reverse the process is a bit more difficult.

Snake it up in front of that bundled harness around the outside of the hvac tubes there's a small space it'll come it through.

I don't think I've ever successfully harvested an amp harness without seriously dismantling or destroying the interior

Done! Completely pull the radio and start from the top with the amp end of the harness. In the picture below, you'll want to follow all the other harnesses down between the 2 HVAC ducts. I fished through a piece of home electrical wiring and it came out behind the side ducts. I disconnected the rear side duct for more room. Then, pulled it through. Going from this direction allows you to get your hand on the connector to orient it and push it down through the mass of wires. Also, the amp end of the harness has a male connector on it, so a bit smaller than the female radio end.

VIDA has you routing it up in front of the side ducts. I have a big bracket there. So, barely enough room for one finger. Don't know what VIDA is smoking.

So, now time to work through my audio library - AC/DC to ZZ Top and 2112 to Zombie!

Was good to see ya yesterday! I actually had a window break on me because those were misaligned at some point for so long that rolling down the window just completely shattered it.

I just ordered another set of the to have as spares in the glove box. Had a window fall out on me during a road trip in the middle of winter, was able to replace them in a gas station parking lot. Don't cheap out, get the Volvo sliders.

Blacked out most of the headlight assembly prior to the projector installation tomorrow. However, the 3M delicate surface painter's tape removed some of the chrome. Grrrrrr!

Sell them, once the new projectors are installed.

The chrome around the reflectors in the headlights is extremely fragile. Went to clean some finger prints off the turn signal reflector and took off a bunch of the chrome. I can paint the trim silver, but masking off the actual reflector might lead to more problems.

The best option would be to cannibalize an 05+ headlight for the turn signal reflector. But, I don't think I have any near me at the moment.

Anyone have a left 05+ standard V70/S60 headlight for parts? Just need the turn signal reflector.

If all else fails, I'll stop at Harry's on the way back from Carlisle.
