I believe I already mentioned above in a previous post that you can purchase these locally in Toronto from any local Volvo dealer. I just ordered a set yesterday from Mississauga volvo for $37 CAD - they will be here on Tuesday. Normally takes 2 days but Monday is a holiday.

      Hope this helps...

The dealers prices for these are much higher but they have them now. Why they aren't standard on builds yet is a shame..

Rear doors gather way too much snow/dirt, design flaw?

My Volvo guards arrived today and I thought I would post some pics. These are made of a soft nylon as opposed to the Chinese ones which are a hard plastic. The Volvo ones are bigger and have a different shape and are very flexible. Finally the do fit the curvature of the rear door much better than the Chinese ones. There is no gap at the bottom - it has a very consistent gap from top to bottom.

Now that I have a spare set - if anyone is interested in them you can have them for cheap - send me a pm.

Do you happen to have a link to the part at the Volvo dealership in Canada? I'm located in Ottawa, but could order from Missisauga. I have the chinese ones installed, but the genuine volvo ones look better. Thanks.

I just called the parts department and ordered this part number - 32288517. It arrived in 2 days.

You can probably do the same at your local Ottawa Volvo dealership...

I'm wondering if this part will fit the 20 Polestar with it's wider wheel well trim. Looking at it it doesn't seem like it will fit right.

It doesn't matter which model it is: 18" - 22" with or without a wider wheel trim. This is located on the inside of the rear fender

      Thanks much

This worked, stumbled on this forum when I was doing research on the issue. Indeed a design flow, interesting that Volvo had the screws in place for the mudguard. They should have added as standard, its just @6 or so, why not Volvo?

      Thanks folks.

My dealer put the new OEM Volvo ones on my 2020 xc60 Polestar Engineered and they do the trick nicely and are mostly unnoticeable.

Tried to fit mine over the weekend and aborted half way through. The rear door actually closes ON the plastic near the bottom of the wheel well. It will close but only after making a loud "breaking plastic" noise. It was raining too so I bagged it for a different day.

I put these on, so thankful to people who found them, it was a real problem last winter. Agree that they are effectively unnoticeable even on our white xc60. Fingers crossed that they do the job when the weather gets rough here.

Got these parts from Dealer for around $45 including tax. Installation on both sides took 15 mins total. Only had to use torx key on two of 8 fasteners. The other six fasteners used finger tightened plastic nuts. Gap is as shown in earlier pictures, around 1/8 to 3/16Ē. Letís see how they work this winter with slushy roads here in central Pennsylvania.

When you install this, first remove the torque screw and then place the fender in place and start with the middle nut only turned one turn. The fit the top and bottom nuts - again only finger tight. Adjust the fender so there is even clearance around the full door arch. Tighten the nuts evenly. Finally insert the torque screw. This should fit perfectly.

If you find the door is still hitting the fender remove the torques screw, loosen the lower and middle nuts and then adjust the fender so it clears the door and then retighten accordingly.

      Hope this helps.

Sorry. I didn't see this. I installed the rear left again the next weekend and it was fine this time around. I had to force more of a bend into the plastic but it has been fine since. Thanks for the suggestions.

installed it month ago, looks like less dust. it's good.
      But, another issue...
found some sand/dust on both sides of rear seats, just between seat and doors...
so next task is to find how it happens...
seems volvo needs new seals for rear doors.

A little late to the party, here, but looking at the original pictures in post #1, my first thought is that there's no aerodynamic cause for the stuff wrapping around the door edge. Notice that it's adequately dammed by the weatherstrip. I would first look to the door adjustment, as in there may be a low-pressure air flow drawing the road muck around the edge. Odd, too, that there's a clean area where companion areas are in maybe too close proximity. Is the starboard aft door the same?

      Volvo XC60 rear door dirt

I have the same rear door problem on my XC60 and have been complaining for two years with no fix. it is disgusting. I cannot believe that they have not fixed this obvious design problem.

My local Volvo dealer has confirmed to me that they have ordered the mudflaps and will install it for free in my 2020 XC60.

Just installed the volvo fender liner flaps today. Picked them up from a dealer here in NY for $49. They wanted to charge me $57 but talked them down a few bucks.
As previously mentioned, install was a breeze. The only issue I have is that my passenger side fitment is spot on however the driver side is not as imprecise. I tried messing with it but the gap isnt consistent.
Anyone else with volvo part had the same issue ?
I am going to add additional weather stripping to the inside of the door jam still to see if it will prevent the sand accumulation inside like others have. Hopefully will solve the issue.

The day in November that I picked my 2020 XC60 Inscription (Osmium Grey) up from the dealer it was raining. I got home and noticed the dirt in the rear doors that is discussed in this thread. Very disappointed! I had the dealer order the part. They couldnít find it in accessories, but they were able to find it using the part # posted in this thread. I had them installed and just drove in the snow yesterday for the first time since they were installed. Worked perfectly! Thanks to all for your role in alerting me to this problem and the fix!

I was preoccupied with other priorities at the time of ordering and installation and didnít have the energy to take the issue up the dealer chain from the salesperson, parts and service departments to get the dealer to pay. None of them had heard complaints from other customers or knew about the part.

Just installed the mud guards on my new 2019 XC 60 today. Thanks to this thread for the fix. If the plastic rubs on the bottom of the door then just loosen up the Torx bottom screw and slide the plastic in and tighten back down. That way it pulls the edge away from the bottom door edge. The door closing now clears the plastic.

      Volvo XC60 rear door dirt

only a redesign will fix this problem. new seals will help to keep the dirt from entering but will do nothing about the disgusting dirt accumulation on the inside of the doors. had I been aware of this issue I would never have bought this car. We have lived with it for 2 years now but have decided to trade in for something else. I just dont want to look at this for another 6 - 8 years.

Iím pretty sure that the ďprotection packageĒ does not include mudflaps and the inside fender liner to prevent this.

This part eliminates the design flaw, it's not a protection pack as mudflaps. Mudflaps is something else, it's an extra part that all cars have to offer

This is a part that was made because of a design glitch, it's just not clear to me that test drivers in Sweden didn't notice the mud and snow in the back door and reported it to their superiors. Obviously they never opened the back door or washed the car themselves

I think that's impossible. There is simply no TSB or anything like that
Only perhaps a local dealer can do so as an act of goodwill
Volvo was supposed to do this to all XC60 owners because itís a design flaw, but obviously they donít want to admit it. I don't think it costs them more than 5-6 EUR

I did. But wasn't under warranty. I just brought the issue with the dealership as soon as I received delivery of my 2020.
They told me that they were not aware of such issue, at least in Cyprus, but should I do notice this, they will handle it.
In Cy we don't really have rainy seasons, however after a couple of car washes, the flaw was obvious.
So I got the part for free. Of course YMMV.

I have a 2020 and havenít had it in the winter so cannot say whether itís happening to me. However I took these pictures of the rear door and wondered if it looks the same to all of you with pre-2020 cars? Or has Volvo made a change?
