I don't see any sign yet that Volvo has any intention to fix this for us on the new upcoming models...

Of course, because it would cost millions.
Design failures are not fix , this is not done on an existing model, any car brand will not do this

They should just buy that kit from Chinese vendor and install on the new cars. That kit is on sale for only $15 online in China. Two minute for professional people to install in factory, just like mud flap.

I have a feeling it is either a design defect or it has something to do with the wheel well liner. I want to remove the liner behind the piece and see how it sits.

I dont think it is a design defect, since I have seen pics and the install video on their aliexpress page show it fitting perfectly - which is confusing as to why we are all having this gap on the bottom.
The wheel well liner is soft material. Maybe somehow it is slightly different on cars built in China factory.
Whoever has a XC60 built in China could give it a try and see if fits better.

That was my thought exactly! I was going to see how it fits without the wheel well liner. If it is a perfect fit then I will see where it is binding\touching and trim it accordingly to get a perfect fit

Not worthy to modify too much. If you take off the small mud flap, cut the lower edge of the wheel well liner, drill a hole on the liner to fit the anchor pin on the mud flap, then you can fit the mud flap on top of the kit, then it could be improved by 2mm, the thickness of mud flap, should be good enough.

I'm sorry, but it's so cheap and a ugly solution to a $ 50,000 car that wants to be in company with a premium class Audi, BMW, Mercedes

Has nobody given further consideration to applying more weatherstripping in this area instead of dealing with a cheap Chinese part to fix it?

Where are you seeing that part number listed? Has anyone ordered/installed this?

I remember when I started this thread I was in shock this design made it through "testing" given the environment Volvo's are driven in. I ended up installing the chinese part -- and while it works, it doesn't look professional. Maybe this one will be "the one."

Maybe they will make the formal change in MY2021 as a "facelift".

I doubt it, though everything is possible but it is too expensive
In most cases, facelift refers to the exterior of the one seen (front and rear bumpers, grille, lights .....) I have never heard of a body change

The parts in pic 2 is not same parts as pic 1. The shape and bag are totally different.
Pic 2 seems showing a normal mudflap.

This link also shows mudflap in description.

It is still interesting what is in the first bag. The two strips are enough to block dirt/mud from door, if it works same way like the 3rd party one from 3rd party in China.

Let us know how it goes. I just bought mine a week ago, so I haven't noticed anything. But with the snowy winter coming up, I'm sure it'll get dirty real quick.

This is from VIDA, listed in mudflaps area
The part is set of 2 (left-right), as per my info its just appeared in catalogue with delivery in 3-4 weeks. At least in Russia.

Here is screenshot of VIDA (in Russian)

Received my part yesterday.. looks just like the pictures posted by BigBang so I won’t repost... but this is the correct part number... installation was a breeze, only a couple of minutes per side. Really unnoticeable with the door closed and even with door open it blends in nicely unless you are actually looking for it.

There are two pics from BigBang. I assume you received the strip one? But the parts number is on the other pic...

Having these fitted on the car at the dealers before I collect it

The service manager didn’t know about them so is now going to let XC60 owners know they exist

In his post there are two pics from German forum: one bag with parts number, another bag with two strips but no parts number. Which pic match your parts? I always feel confused these days. Seems I am living in a different universe.

I received the bag with the stripes and the same label with part number 32288517. This works perfectly and was only $42 delivered from volvopartswarehouse.
