Am I crazy to pick this up and tinker with it? Looking for a "around town" car that won't matter a whole lot if it dies on me.
Found a listing on craigslist near me for an 2000 S80 with 280k miles. Older gentleman said his grandson was driving it last fall and ended up buying a new car. He said he put it in his garage it and sat all winter never even being started. He went to start it recently and said it idles very rough. He had somebody peek at it and they told him, "It needs an idle air control valve." He said he really has no interest in keeping the vehicle or getting things fixed and listed it for $300. I found the listing about an hour after he posted it. Said it has newer battery, new starter last summer, decent tires and the body is in decent shape. States that most of the miles are hwy miles before his grandson drove it for a bit last summer.
Am i crazy? I figure if it has that many miles and was reportedly running up till now it has to have been somewhat decently taken care of. If I pick it up and it has much more wrong I guess I could at least scrap it for somewhere close to $300 or just give away any decent parts of it to people on here
