I got only one. To get two, maybe you need to remove the front one before drop off and take with you.

Both of ours, front and back, made it to the US dealer and we drove around for another couple of months before putting on the local plates (boo!). At least we have the FDC frame and white "See Europe by Volvo" window sticker on the car.
Same here, plates were left on car.
OSD Cars being shipped back to the US are tracked/monitored solely by VIN. I think license plates on - or off - doesn't matter. The paperwork I got directly from Volvo states if you want the plates take them off prior to turning the car in - whether it's in Gothenburg, Paris or Madrid! When you pick it up stateside at your dealer you can always have them put them back on. I think legally you can drive for 30 days with them on in the USA - but it probably varies by State.
