      Question BBK for 2007 S40?

I am currently looking to buy a 2007 S40 and was looking into different mods I could do once I get the car. I'm having a lot of difficulty finding a big brake kit at the popular manufacturers' websites. If anyone has any suggestions please let me know.

Upgrade to 320mm - just need new calipers and new rotors and pads.

      OR

Upgrade to the focus brembo kit - do some research - by far more affordable than any "Big Brake Kit" but requires larger rims - but MUCH better stopping power.

I am personally waiting for a ZTL style kit to come out. Oh one day...

Your choice is limited. I had the Wilwoods on my V50 when I got the vehicle and I did not like them. I was told one of the calipers needed a rebuild so I passed on this. I put the 320mm S40 rotors and calipers off of my parts vehicle on to hold me over until I do something different. I started down the road of putting the 2016 Focus RS big Brembo brakes on. The mounting holes are almost perfect. The holes had to be opened up from 13mm to 14mm, which can be done with steering knuckle on the vehicle with adjustable reamer. the RS rotor fits on the hub but is just about 3mm too far inboard. A wheel spacer machined to about 3mm would put the rotor in the correct location. When the 18'' Midir wheel was just a little too close to the big caliper, I knew that it would need 19'' wheels. I did not want to go this far so I am working on the putting the P2 R Brembo kit on. I am close. The Midir wheel will not clear the calipers so I have to use Pegasus wheels. 17'' wheels are a confirm fit. I need to get some Pegs now so I can get the brakes on. Glück with your brakes.

How close is "a little too close" on the Midir? Now I am curious.

If there is a tape weight for balancing it would contact the caliper. This is too close for me.

I still have the RS Brembo on the P1 hub. I put the Midir on the setup and there is about 1mm clearance betwixt the RS caliper and the 18'' Midir wheel. It was so tight that there was a tiny tar flake and residual tape weight tape that made contact. I suppose the caliper could be shaved down. With 350mm rotors and that big arse Brembo caliper, I see 19'' wheels. I wanted to use Midirs on the P2R calipers but I would need Spacers to make it work with longer wheel studs. I don't want to go this route so I will go with Pegs. Just have to find some at a reasonable price.

It has been a while but I have attached P2 R Brembo calipers and rotors to the front of my V50. I have to get the P2 Pegs wheels on. Then a test drive. Looks great!
