So i just updated my Sensus to 2.0 at the dealer for $74.50.

Why would i want to do it this way? To save money of the long term?

It is for DIY folks. Most people never DIY on their cars.

pekingduk you're doing god's work and we should start a sharing pool to share the cost of the ODB2-Ether cable + battery charger.

It's all good, i love hacking things myself. I was just trying to figure out if you got more than the dealer by going the DIY route.

These units are used in RVs and so often the wiring is already defined. In addition you need to tell it what you want in terms of voltage output. Once you have that, you are ready to go. Very straight forward.

You don't get more but you could pay less, when upgrade by dealer is not free.

So, I've run into a potentially odd problem.

I got the full 3-day subscription for VIDA so I can do a software update. I had purchased the same obdinnovations connector and have that connected to a Ethernet to USB adapter (computer does not have an Ethernet port).

      And here's the issue...

I have no software tab in VIDA. I can't tell if there's some issue with the processing of my subscription, or if that software tab only shows up if VIDA recognizes the car and makes the connection via the OBDII setup.

Sidenote: VDash works great, but only connects to the car via a DiCE unit.

Just to follow-up on my own question. I reached out to VIDA tech support and they agreed there was something wrong with how the subscription was processed, even though I was billed the full amount. They fixed the problem and pushed my 3-day subscription to start next Friday, since I can only really play around with the car on the weekends.

So hopefully that sorts all of this out!
