New OEM TPMS sensors for winter set - do they need to be "activated"?

I need a put a set of tmps sensors into newly acquired wheels set. Called local place that usually balance wheels for me and they try to upsell me their aftermarket ones (for twice more than in Tasca P). I asked if they could install those I would bring. she said sure, but not sure if we could activate it... It makes me think: if those OEM Volv, do they need to be paired with car somehow? Is it suppose to be done before or after installation? Sorry if these are silly questions but I have no experience with factory dtmps.

      thx

I bought some wheels and the seller threw in oem tpms sensors. I installed them myself and and they registered right away.

I have two sets of wheels and OEM sensors on all eight. The car recognizes the new sensors automatically every time I swap wheels (I swap them myself). Volvo part number for pack of four sensors is 31414092. I ordered the Volvo sensors from Tasca Parts and had a local tire shop install them when they mounted the winter tires.

Note this is for DTPMS, not more recent XC90 models with indirect TPMS (which doesn't require wheel sensors).

Yes, this is exactly my situation. The car MY is 2016. Got a set of takeoffs off a newer car and getting a set of sensors from Taska. Thank you for confirming.
