T5 or T6 shown more reliabilty?

In the market for a 2020 XC90 Momentum. With limited years to survey, has the T5 or T6 shown more reliability and less issues across the platform? First Volvo, love the car. But the Volvo does not equal reliability mantra gives me pause. Any thoughts?

      Welcome

I haven't seen threads that indicate one is less reliable than the other. My choice of T6 was more driven by the options in the year I purchased mine; that time, 3rd row option is not available on the T5s. They changed that a few months after I completed my purchase. From what I can tell (1 time driving a T5 loaner for a few days and forum posts from others), either engine shouldn't behave that different for daily driving. T6 might pull harder consistently on mountain passes, but I don't know for sure.

The difference on T6 versus T5 is the super charger, which is usually quite reliable. It is mechanically driven by camshaft and nothing stresses it. So I don't see any worries on it.

I agree with both the comments above. In theory, the T5 should be slightly more reliable because of the lack of a supercharger, but I don't think that I have ever seen a single complaint about the supercharger going south on them. Obversely, I suppose that if you hauled a heavy trailer, the T6 might pull with less strain than the T5. Overall, however, I have not seen any indication that one is more or less reliable than the other.

No complaints about reliability from me. Of course that could change, but so far so good!

Got a great deal on a T5 AWD. The T6 was more fun to drive, but my wife actually liked the T5 better because the T6 was so responsive she felt it was too touchy. In Dynamic the T5 has plenty for her. Love the vehicle!

I believe most of the reliability issues in the xc90 have been wrinkled out by 2020.
I'm just 1 data point, but my 2019 has been flawless.

So has my 2018. The 2016 was the problem child with _some_ early 2017 models still having issues. By end of 2017 MY things were pretty much fixed on the production line.
