Turtle Wax Hybrid Ceramic coating Spray

I am somewhat suspicious (as a chemist) of any auto products when they claim to do unbelievable things. So when people began talking about ceramic coatings on paint I wondered if they were really worth the money. Recently I heard about a new Turtle Wax product named Hybrid Ceramic Spray. I watched a Turtle Wax tech talk about how they made it and how it works. So bottom line I bought a bottle. I first used Adams detail spray on the car then followed up with the ceramic spray. I could easily see the increase in gloss as well as smoothness. The challenge will be how long it lasts. I washed the car today with just water. The Turtle Wax ceramic spray seemed to allow the dirt to more easily rinse off. I did the wheels and they were much easier to clean. Turtle Wax claims the finish will last about 4 months. We shall see. For now it is really worth the $18 I paid for a bottle of 16 ounces.

I used it as a touch up every few months on my car that was ceramic coated with R1.

I tried it on a "naked" never been waxed car. I thought it was just OK. IMO, not really a ceramic by my amateur eye.

What ever it is, it is easy to apply and very inexpensive as well.

Iím also suspicious of new products with lots of promises. I still use old school products on my cars. My Ď96 GTI has original paint and Iíve used carnuba wax along with cleaners and polishes for 23 years and the paint still looks new.

I know a couple people who ceramic coated their cars so Iíll see how that works for them while I keep doing what Iím doing.

      That's awesome about your GTI!

I'm the same way with paint protection. It was a big step for me to apply paint sealant (protection up to 6 months) to my cars but my 2003 Mini Cooper lives outside in the desert sun here in Phoenix, AZ, so it can use all the protection I can give it. That said, I'm just not interested in any type of ceramic coating. I enjoying trying out different waxes or sealants (though I only have 1 sealant) to see how they shine.

The sealant I use (Wolfgang Deep Gloss Paint Sealant 3.0) leaves an amazing gloss that always astounds me the next morning after having cured overnight but it is almost too shiny/glossy for my taste. I think I prefer the shine of carnauba wax.

As an avid detailer, I really enjoy experimenting with all manner of products.
I do like Turtle Wax’ new Hybrid line but I don’t love it.

Eagle One has a Ceramic “Quick Detailer” spray that I feel is hands-down the best bang for your buck. I’m from Canada so I have to order it from the USA but it’s absolutely worth the trouble.

As a sales person I generally am very skeptical of all such products. The only reason I peddle in the stuff we offer is because it comes with a warranty and I've had customers gain from that. $18 for 4 months doesn't seem cheap to me.. That's $54 a year and repeat applications, and I doubt its warranty will do too much. Our product is from Simonize (would love feedback on if it actually works... I honestly just like the warranty myself). It has one product for the paint and one for the leather and has a 10 year warranty on a single application... So that's $540 worth of turtle wax and 30 applications. The suggested retail price we're given is a bit higher than $540 but honestly I never charge anyone over $500, and again that's interior and exterior treatment. I don't know how well the product works because I've only seen a few you tube videos and generally haven't been impressed with their testing standards, but I've done warranty claims and that works just fine!

FWIW I thought I would add that I experimented this weekend and applied Zaino Gloss Enhancer over the TW Hybrid Ceramic and is was huge improvement. I can't speak to the impact on longevity but I can't imagine that it will hurt it.
