I was being sarcastic lol. Yeah I'd also be parked towards the end/outside away from everybody.

I've thought about Audi/VW too. You just have to want to go to school on another euro marque that is bound to have its own particular set of issues down the road. If you enjoy figuring things like that out then it may be fun. We sometimes take for granted that we pretty much know most of the Volvo issues, they're all out there and we've learned to deal with them.

I've been digging into diesels for the past several months just for the mileage benefits and diesel technology, but they have their own set of issues/problems that to repair would far outstrip any fuel savings so not sure that's going anywhere.

I had a mk4 Jetta tdi for about a year. I bought it with 374k miles and when I sold it it had 376k. I really really wish I didnít sell it. Cause I canít find another one like it in good shape! It was reliable and got amazing mpg. I could get 600 miles out of a tank of gas. The older Volkswagens that werenít affected by the scandal are the really good ones.

I've narrowed my search to the last model year Mk VII diesel models. They have urea injection and the Golfs are on the more updated MQB platform and it seems like the post dieselgate fix did not impact them as much as it did on the older Mk VI cars. I've learned a lot from perusing the forums about such interesting subjects as regens and DPFs, lol. I doubt I'll actually buy one but it's fun to dig into it a little.

PAX5 says itís a pass on this for him due to color preference on interiors, but I like the paint color myself.

Is that color Oyster Grey? I looked at one last year for an out of town buyer and it was that color, but it had the off black interior which was pretty nice.

This is a good and helpful take.

So it finally happened. Thread to follow shortly. Found in on FB marketplace for $800. Odometer stopped reading a few years ago but itís been a spare car since he upgraded. His dad bought it for him in 2000 and itís been with him since. He took some pics of me leaving to send to his dad as he was rather fond of it too. Itís a little rough around the edges but nothing some elbow grease and trips to scrap yards canít fix.

11K with that mileage, clean and a sport kit? Needs to be gone over a little, but seems like a good deal.

      anyone close?
I just left the dealership and spent about two hours with it while I was there. As some have mentioned, the guy does / did not know what he has.
I'm in Asheville so I figured it was too close not to take a look. Ultimately I decided not to buy. It was a combination of me making a low-ball offer and the fact that I'm more of a rear wheel drive Volvo guy, therefore I would most likely just keep my 745t with the m-46 as opposed to keeping this. That being said it is extremely clean for a 21 year old car. The paint is near perfect and the maintenance is near perfect. If anyone is interested in more information I'd be happy to share my findings. Also, I ran a Carfax and would be happy to share that.

More importantly, this is my first post. As mentioned, I'm more of a rear wheel drive Volvo guy so I am more active on other forums but none the less I've been a lurker on here for a while. Nice to meet everyone.

Definitely. Would almost be a shame to put miles on it - very nice. If this was a wagon it would be at least 2x!

      1998 T5M Estate ~222K with recent 2004 RN swap w/ ~ 140k miles.

This car is located in Salem Oregon

      https://salem.craigslist.org/cto/d/s...041494058.html

I went and looked at the car, spoke with the owner and the indie who did the work. Sounds like a really mechanically sound car with a lot of potential but I can't justify it with two other ongoing Volvo projects.

It has a BLK V70R interior That is a decent shape 7 out of 10

Exterior is a 6 out of 10 with paint peeling on the roof, light denting without paint missing in a few spots and a rear bumper that has quite a bit of rash.

The owner would love to see it go to an enthusiast so I promised him I would post here.

I called at 1:10pm CST and told them I wanted to put a deposit on the car. He told me that they just took a deposit on it from someone in Seattle minutes before (((

May is but a few short months from now! Get it and MAYBE I could figure out how to get there to pick it up. It's far away but I could maybe head that way and go to IKEA and bring it home and house it for ya.

This car is located in Salem Oregon

I went and looked at the car, spoke with the owner and the indie who did the work. Sounds like a really mechanically sound car with a lot of potential but I can't justify it with two other ongoing Volvo projects.

It has a BLK V70R interior That is a decent shape 7 out of 10

Exterior is a 6 out of 10 with paint peeling on the roof, light denting without paint missing in a few spots and a rear bumper that has quite a bit of rash.

The owner would love to see it go to an enthusiast so I promised him I would post here.

I appreciate it but it will be a while before I get to caring about cosmetics like that. However my goal is to drive this thing in convoy up there for Carlisle

Yep, Oyster Grey. But itís not the Executive package. Still has a lot of decent options, not a bad price if well maintained.

Thanks for sharing your findings on that V. Someone probably got a nice ride because the ad has been deleted.
