SOLD: 2006 Black Volvo V50 T5 AWD MT – 128k Miles – Portland, OR
2006 Black Volvo V50 T5 AWD MT – 128k Miles – Portland, OR
- M66 Manual Transmission
- Heated leather seats
- Power seats (3 position memory on driver’s seat)
- 6-Disk CD changer
- HID headlights
Recent Maintenance (all by me):
- Timing belt and water pump replaced around 120K miles
- Regular oil changes every 3k miles
- I replaced the alternator about 6 years ago.
- Recently replaced a failed coil pack.
- Body: 8/10 – The hood has strange blemishes in the paint and the front skirt has come off once or twice but I added a small piece to help hold it in place.
- Interior: 8/10 – this is in good shape. Leather shows some sign of age (minor cracking).
- Mechanical: 5/10 – See “the bad news” below.
- Electrical: 8/10 – Driver door wiring harness has been having contact issues and needs a little attention. Battery ground is getting old and a little corroded. Otherwise the electrical system is working well.
Shortly after I purchased the car (~6 years ago) it was rear ended (the car was parked at the time with no one in it). The back hatch and bumper were dented in. All repairs were done by a shop and covered by insurance. The title was not branded.
I am selling my 2006 V50. This car has the infamous M66 manual transmission only found in this model, the V70R, and their sedan counterparts (S40 and S60R).
The bad news: The timing belt slipped recently after the drive pulley nut had worked itself loose. As a result, one of the valves is bent. The car still starts and runs but will need head work. Although the car will drive, I would recommend trailering it home to avoid further damage to the engine.

Price dropped. Just found out I'm moving at the end of the month. So rather than pull the head myself and get it rebuilt, I've got to get it sold. A couple local Volvo shops quoted $4000 to $4500 to do all of the work in house. A couple machine shops said they could rebuild the head for $500 to $700.
