I mean if you want to talk about being treated like a teenager id start with doing my own research on what to buy rather than writing some car mag about your issue lol

Didn't the NA V70s have a manual transmission? Might be harder to find than an R.

Jalopnik is dumpster fire of "automotive" hipsters who have no clue WTF they're talking about. I hope they edit that article and remove the SR from it, will all be better off with those tarts no knowing the R line ever existed.

Daaaamn! are we actually victim-blaming here? The rest of the “staff” actually gave pretty good recs, though. I want to say when it comes to fun to drive new sticks as responsible family cars: “‘mazda is always the answer.”

Completely agree on Mazda being the answer.

Almost forgot how much I hated Jalopnik until I tried to post but couldn't because of all the spam lagging my computer.

I’m not knocking any of the choices there really, I’m not a big fan of suv type crossovers but I could see them being useful for a family commuter.

Definitely no victims here though. Except maybe the Honda. The premise of the article is just terrible. The answers easy. If you want a performance family wagon around 25k, get a 2000~ bmw 5 series wagon. 25k is nothing for a new car today especially a performance manual car.

There's an older gentleman (maybe 80ish) in my area with an older 5 series wagon (maybe 05ish) that's immaculate. I keep thinking I should follow him to see if he might be interested in selling it at some point.

High mile S60R would be pretty far down the list for a young Mom with kids. No space, high maintenance costs. Who writes this stuff?

People who have probably never actually driven an R.

I think they're awesome, but the rear legroom in a P2 S60 isn't that great. It's a bit better in the V70, but still.

It's alot better IMO, the SR is basically coupe with a 4 doors, the leg room is AWFUL in the back. When comparing in the back of the VR, I feel like I'm in a limo.

      Agree.
The difference in head room S to V is dramatic also, and the entry/exit with the sloped door...
      Love em both though!!

Yeah, I was gonna say, there's about an extra 2" of legroom, at least.

Funnily enough, I was the second person to look at my car when it was for sale, the first was a woman with three toddlers and she didn't buy the car because she didn't think she could put three car seats in the back seat.

Every now and then I pat my car on the roof and tell it that it dodged a bullet. Working on cars for a living, nothing trashes interiors more than having kids. And car seats would probably shred the leather, I have a dent in the passenger seat from when I left a CD case on it for a week!

      Don't we all?

True, that price was crackpipe but look at some of the others on the list, lol.
