      Door Mirror Replacements

Hopefully somebody here has experience with replacing door mirrors and can help. Messed up my passenger side mirror and I'm ready to just replace it. Dealer quoted me close to $1k to replace it so I'm trying to do it myself.

Does anybody know what the difference between these parts are other than the cost? I did some research and it looks like there are 13 and 14 wire connectors, any way to figure out what I have and which model and what?

      I have a 2012 S80 with BLIS.

Not sure, but you get a lot more hits on the second (Cheaper) one

I don't know about the difference in part numbers. Other thing is go to the dealer and have them look it up for you and get the correct part number before you buy.

I would check out car-part.com for a salvage one for about half the price.

Can you look at your wire connector and tell which it is?

They hate it when you do that for good reason. Some will not even give out part numbers anymore.

And the good reason being the risk of not selling an overpriced part? My dealer usually recommends me to find a used part if they find the price to be excessively high. That's good service, guaranteeing that I'll buy reasonable priced parts from the dealership whenever I can. Long term relationship, instead of buying one expensive part once and never again...

Because it`s like going to a clothing store, trying on clothes to see what fits, then going online and buying because it`s cheaper, which you no doubt do. Why would you buy any part at the dealer after you waste the time of a paid employee to get you a price and a part number and then go find it online cheaper?

Disagree. It's like going to a store checking the price tags, and then go buy it in another store if it's too expensive. You know, like normal people.

When I want to know the price, I usually ask the staff. If it's significantly cheaper online I'll buy it online. That's what the majority of all people would do, and it's how a modern market economy works.

You work at a dealership with horrendously overpriced parts, right?

I went through the mirror replacement options before. Consider searching on Tascaparts.com. Your model and year shows three variants based on blis, no blis, power folding, no power folding: 31298920, 31398921, 31298922. These are compatible with 2012-2014 S80 3.2 or T6 models.

The other part number you listed may be compatible with some 2012s, but actually fits 2015-2016 S80 T6 or T5 models. Power folding is not mentioned.

Tasca and other good OEM parts vendors will ask for your VIN, so they can double-check compatibility.

Lol, I don’t know anything about anyone’s mom except my children’s.....

But make Tasca your first stop, they usually have diagrams available that should help with IDying the proper part.
