      Oil pan swap

Replacing the motor on an 850R with another like motor. Wanted to upgrade the oil pan with a 99+ with the oil cooler on the back. Wanted to know if there is any fitment issues, It looks like they match right up. I know I will need to swap out the rear water pipe but is there any other issues that would come up.

Following because I’ve wondered if it’s just the pan and water pipe or more myself.

If you are RN swapping it the pan on the new motor is what you should use anyway. Do the pickup Update while refreshing the block

Is the "like motor" another N motor?

Should just be pan and water pipe. The only *gotcha* would be getting the proper pipe to mate to your turbo coolant lines. The 99-00 should be the same as the -98 (non RN) in that respect. The later ones use a different interface with the turbo coolant lines (O-ring vs hoses), and would require you changing those as well.

As suggested, upgrade to the pick-up to the newer style while it's apart. You will need longer bolts for that, as the flange is thicker. They're a 7mm thread, so that makes them harder to get.

The longer bolts are the same as water pump bolts

donor motor giving up pan and rear water jacket is a 99.

Thanks Chuck and Scottish for the input. And Johnwartjr, I will keep you posted on progress. Motor should be going in right after Christmas and then gonna swap the pan after install.
