Looking to buy this 2015 XC60....

      Hey everyone.
Would you guys be so kind as to share any and all thoughts and info. on this particular model please.
I've been reading through the "Turbo Leak" thread and am a bit concerned over this. Is it still a concern?

      Here's the car.
The price seems really high (even in Canadian pesos) and the given fact cars simply cost more up here.

      many thanks!

That price does seem high, but I'm unsure of the markup of Canadian vs US. Can you find similar cars in the area to compare?

What turbo leak threads are you referring to? The threads about needed new copper washers on the turbo line pipe?

At that mileage, it's pretty much just basic maintenance. You can look up the basic Volvo maintainence schedule to ask the dealer if those services have been done, or look for them on a CarFax.

Tires will either be low or need to be done soon. Same with brakes.

The car looks clean and the T6 AWD is a nice car and that interior is unique.

We have a '15.5 T6 and after some initial issues the first couple of years it's been bulletproof, almost surprisingly so after the first year or two. I just did the 50k mile service on it last month.

This car looks like a really nice platinum model with the better headlights so that's a good thing.

I don't think there are really any chronic issues with these cars and I don't know pricing at all so can't help you there.

You'd want to get it inspected to see if the top banjo bolt is leaking. If so, if needs two new washers. If you can DIY, it's a $2 fix. You can get them to do it maybe.

That bottom intercooler pipe is normally to show traces of oil. If it's soaked, or oil is pooling out of the turbo, then there is a PCV issue or turbo seal issue. That car you showed doesn't have many miles, I'd doubt those would be an issue, but always good to check.

That thread refers to the 2015.5 2.0L T6 Drive-E 4 cylinder engine with turbo and supercharger. The car you are looking at has the earlier 2015 3.0L T6 inline 6 cylinder.

Nope the person who made the thread was talking about the 3.0 Inline 6.

Got the Carfax and it looks pretty good. Lease return, one person owned. No accidents/smoking/pets. 18 inch wheels. Just had a 3rd party inspection. Brakes are 80% front. 70% back. Tires are "Michelin All Season", 40% front, 50% back.
Most recent maintenance: Alignment, engine oil change, new battery, and replaced left front mirror signal light.

Is the mileage about average for this year, or?

They also have a '16 with less miles for a few $k more. I'd probably go for that one myself...

Duly noted. Am I correct to say the 2015 has 50 more ponies, and poorer gas mileage?
Anything else to share between these two particular model years?
Is the 50 fewer hp (on the 2016) that noticeable?
      Any info please.....I'm hungry.

Does the '15 have the auto start/stop system, and or is this a good feature?

The five cylinder does have less hp/torque than the six but the former does have an overboost function which provides additional torque temporarily. I don't think the difference in power is all that noticeable but you'd have to drive both back to back to make a better comparison. There is no start/stop on either of these two cars that you are looking at. I don't think there were a lot changes from '15.5 to '16 as this was pretty late in the life cycle of the P3 XC60.

Thanks, Wayne T5. The racer punk in me likes the 50 extra ponies and paddle shifters on the '15.
Plus all else that is included in the Platinum package, over the '16/Premier.
I would be sure to check them both out, regardless.

The Platinum is nice if you get the xenon lights. They are much nicer than the halogens.

The paddle shifters are fun if you are feeling sporty, but admittingly, I don't use them a ton.

That price seems reasonable. No timing belt to worry about. We have 166000 km on ours and no major repairs at our cost.

The worry is an oil leaker. I'd get some kind of commitment on oil consumption, as a few use a quart between oil changes. Unless they doesn't bother you. Haven't really seen any engines coke up from the excessive oil consumption. Maybe just have a mechanic bore scope the engine through the spark plug holes and confirm valves are clean...
2009 Hilton Stage 2 C70 M66 Passion Red/Graphite/Aluminum - Quaife LSD installed! Has anyone else noticed gear whir in 3rd and 4th? Or a "clunk" from the SPEC SMF and R clutch (or front LCA poly bushings?) at startup?
      2011 XC60 3.2L Barents Blue/Anthracite/Aluminum - rings/pistons at 35k, new engine at 50k, seems no oil loss yet at 100k.

I have seen a few of the 3.0 turbo engines with the oil supply line leak. They all have been loose and I have not seen any back for the leak after tightening the hollow bolt to the correct spec. I have only replaced seals when it was under factory warranty as they want returned parts for proof. The turbo models with oil consumption are rare. long oil change interval and short trips or too much idling are oil consumption causes on all the makes that have the issue on some of their engines. Oil rings do not stick for no reason. The low friction/low spring tension rings will have increased chance of sticking if the pistons get ring groove oil deposits from oil change intervals too long for the driving style. Long oil drain have not been good for longevity on any make that has pushed them too far. Oils used in Europe make tolerate the longer drain but what is readily available in the US will not get you there. If you are a gearhead and would bother to get the best Motul or other import brands then you likely won't go 10K miles between changes. The less enthused owners that often do not know if there are hamsters running on a wheel or pistons turning a crankshaft don't care until a light or message comes on. (I will get off my soapbox now...)
