V60CC in the snow. (Pictures and Video)

We got a little snow in the local mountains so we took the new CC for a spin. Wagon did well as expected. Here are some images and video....

Handling was great although being a new car, I took it pretty easy. I didnt want to be the guy that crashed his new car the first week. That said, i did do some slow speed "off-road" mode descents in 3-4" and it was great. The electronics and electro-mechanics worked flawlessly. I even did an off camber sharp left to go around a stuck 2wd'er that was BELOW me. No slide. So it did great.

In the video, I was going over 25 so no off-road and the I never slid.

How is the V60 cross country different from the regular V60 all-wheel-drive?

Thanks for the details, sounds great and I agree with you not wanting to be the guy who crashes the new car. Thanks for sharing your great new ride.

The CC option gives you all wheel drive, higher ground clearance / suspension, and different body styling with an option for “pro” package that this one has.

Off camber means that the road slopes towards the outside of the turn. Which makes your car want to slide towards the outside more

Cross Country is lifted ~3 inches higher than regular. It also an "off-road" driving mode for under 25mph that includes hill descent, I believe pioneered by Land Rover and acquired when Ford owned LR but I could be wrong about that. Besides those two major things, I'm not sure what else is different.... Body cladding? Other stuff?

Off camber is an off road term for when the car is tilted sideways, like driver high side, passenger low side, driving. When we say off camber, it means you turning the opposite direction of the tilt. It's what we call a "pucker" or white knuckle situation. You are turning up hill against the body roll and depending where you are, it can bescary.

Not every Audi is all wheel drive even in USA. Not sure if it’s different by you.

I have no idea. Only the ones I have looked at or owned.

We also had a Subaru before the Audi, again many with AWD but probably not all.

The important thing here, is the Volvo has it.

I can't wait to upgrade my Mercedes to a new Mercedes with 4 matic. I really just prefer the handling of an AWD car.

Other then people that want to drift, I can’t imagine people buy two wheel drive cars / trucks. Even if you live in California or Florida you got rain and loose gravel to drive on. Plus the entire dynamic is different. It’s crazy when people buy two wheel drive especially when they get a Jeep or a truck and live in 4 seasons area.

Thank you all for the explanation of the term off camber. Also for the information on the cross country. I am definitely going to have to test drive one. I think I may like it better than an XC60 or 90.

Would you say that it helps to have the car in "off-road" mode...assuming below 25mph....when going slow on a snow covered road in general?....i.e, not just for hill descent, but level road as well..... Volvo really markets this mode as "off-road"....but seems like a good "snow" mode as well....when going slow of course?....

      thanks

Thank you. FWIW, there should be an option to quote without images/attachments but even that might be too confusing.

OT, nice pix. All of them. My '07 XC90 is just so much fun in our neck of the woods.
