Possible to change odometer from imperial to metric?

My 2002 originally came from the US and as such it had an Imperial cluster in miles per hour, temperature in Fahrenheit and fuel economy in miles. I found options in Vida to change temperature and fuel economy settings to metric and swapped my gauge faces to metric. The only thing I wasn't able to change is the actual odometer reading. In Vida there is an option in the same spot as the temperature and trip computer that asks if your odometer is in km or miles. I attempted to change it there but it didn't make any difference.

So is it possible to change the odometer or is it hard coded?

Requires VIDA and User Defined Software enabled. You can check in VIDA is the software is enabled, otherwise it's a dealer visit for the upload. Swapping DIMs doesn't work as the units are saved in the CEM.... been through this.

Software enables it. Somewhere under the advanced options tab, not exactly sure as it's been a while.

I also have an 02 and switched my disks from metric to imperial last year.

I had originally made the switch because I was planning on giving the car to my daughter for use in FL. Ended up giving her out S60 instead but have not bothered to switch the metric gauges back in.

Given that I routinely head down across the border for part pickups, short trips, etc I kind of like having the MPH display available instead of the KPH only so will probably leave as is.

For what it’s worth, be aware that the gauge set up is different for 01-02 vs subsequent years. The good news is that it is much easier to switch out the bezels. The bad news is that You can’t switch out parts with 03+. The bezel and needle assy come out together, there is no need to pull needle off. So if you are interested in switching out speedo only just find yourself an old cluster from wreckyard and take out the speedo dial and install it in yours. You will be good to go. As for switching out the LCD display settings can’t help you there.
