      Mazda Lowering Springs

New thread since subject has changed from last one.

What Mazda lowering springs should I go with for a v50? I'm looking to drop the car for cheap as its just a cheap beater that I want to look good. I've read that mazda 3 springs will work for v50s and s40s but no one says what year so I'm just a little nervous. If someone could tell me what springs will work and will look good that be great. Thanks for the help everyone.

There are lowering specifically for the S40/V50. Eibach, H&R, Elevate and Volvo all offer lowering springs. Them there are various coil-overs available.

Yes but from what I've gathered Mazda springs will work and seem to be half the cost.

I'm just trying to get rid of the 3 inch gap I have in the rear for cheap. I'm not going to be doing autocross or cross country trips. Just want to have a car I like to stare at as I walk into work that's 15min from home. If I can accomplish that with Mazda springs for 100 bucks then that's where I want to go.

FWIW, I installed C30 rear springs on my V50 T5 AWD - made a huge difference in the appearance!

17in springs? Or did you mean rims? My already has the factory 17s if that's what you meant.

I have a 2010 S40, still P1 platform, and i finally decided to go with a set of the Eibach springs, i went to eibachs website and they had the spring set listed at some hellacious discount i paid 135 for the kit was pretty sure it had to be an error on the pricing but i got charged what it said, i cant even find the springs on their website now however these coupled with some cheap struts / shocks and the car still rights like stock and sits about 1.5 inch lower i also took the opportunity to replace any worn bushings / mounts and sway bar links and all in total i paid about $550 for shocks/struts, springs, mounts, links

I just found some Eibach lowering springs for an awd v50 for around that, are they the same for a fwd v50 thought?
*edit* From what I just read it sounds like I'm good to go, unless someone says otherwise I'm going to order those, worse case scenario I'll return them if I learn they won't work after they ship.

The AWD will fit may be a bit stiff in the back as they are for the higher weight of the awd

I'm lost, what do you mean 17 and 18 inch springs? Are you just measure the overall height or something?

Well I'm back, the place i ordered my eibach springs from (autoanything) says they can't get me my parts as they are discontinued. So I'm back on the hunt, so what year Mazda springs fit so i can get a set order off eBay for less than the 200 that Volvo ones cost.

I used 2006 Mazda 3/6 in my 2006 S40 for the fronts. I haven't messed with the rears yet.

Curb weight between the Mazda 6 and the S40 AWD was only about 150lbs difference (Volvo heavier), however yours is an additional 150lbs on top of that since it's a V50.

Are Mazda 3 and 6 not different? I don't know the cars but i assumed they had some difference, even if it's just weight i should go with the heavier one then.

The Mazda 5 looks like a Honda Fit. The Mazda 3 is a sedan like ours. They both use the same shocks and quickstruts in the fronts at least (2006 Models). I figured if it was able to be useful for both of them despite their weight difference, the additional 150lbs to go on a volvo s40 awd model wouldn't be a big woop. Putting these on the V50 would mean a 300lb weight difference which might make them a little less responsive when driving, so that's just soemthing to be mindful of.

Unless you have much different names in US, I think u confused some of those:
      Mazda 6 - top, Honda Fit - middle - Mazda 3 bottom

Our cars uses most of Mazda3 parts as Mazda 3 and Ford Focus used similar platform, mazda3 was available as sedan or hatch but in US u probably got only sedans?
Mazda 6 is much bigger and to my knowledge most parts WONT fit, unless you are only talking about performance MPS6 model, maybe they used diffrerent parts similar to MPS3 but those are so rare here that I am not very familiar with them.

I think it was supposed to be the Mazda 5:

I know the Mazda 3 and 5 share many suspension components with our P1 Volvos.
