Pretty amazing drummer. Even if you don’t like Rush. I was never a Rush guy but have started to appreciate the stuff of my youth that everybody else loved.

Hadn’t heard, so sad. Big Rush fan when I was younger, Neil was not only the drummer but also wrote most of the lyrics.

      RIP Neil

One of the most talented drummers around. I didn't begin to appreciate Rush until the several years ago. Tom Sawyer is by far my favorite. RIP Neil Peart.

For sure. Anyone who doesn’t know him should watch a few videos. Listen and wonder how all that extremely organized awesome percussion sound is possible out of two feet and two hands. It is astounding.

40+ years ago in college was the first I heard of Rush from the guys in the dorm room next to mine. They LOVED Rush long before their commercial success!! Not a huge Rush fan, only a few albums/cd's, but yes sad to see all the rockers I grew up listening to passing away. RIP Neil.

His drum solo from the 2004(?) Rush Live in Frankfurt is a great reference!

The rockers we grew up with are older than us and will start dying off in droves, just wait.

I too was a big Rush fan back in the day--to this day I can still play Alex Lifeson's riffs from many songs on Fly by Night and 2112. For a 3-man band to work, you need a solid drummer to hold things together. Neil Peart was not called The Professor for nothing--very underrated by the masses and he will be sorely missed. RIP.

Nice to see everyone here posting about Peart. I was heavily under the influence of Rush as a young, New World Man myself, and it was almost like a drug. He had significant influence on my drumming. His style was precise and highly technical; he definitely carved out a spot for himself amongst the legends of percussion.

Having played in many bands, I am a huge fan of trios... it keeps drama to a minimum, all the necessities are covered and it's all you really need to rock
