      Replace SIM

I'd like to replace the AT&T SIM with a Project Fi data SIM. Couple questions 1. anyone knows if Project Fi SIM works 2. where is the SIM

Someone did it work a different model. Don't remember the outcome. Use the search to find it.

Most GSM SIM should just work. Both AT&T and TMobile SIM work for me. Project Fi should be no problem.

For location of the SIM slot, I can't say about XC40. It should be described in the user manual. You can search online for a PDF version.

Great pics. I wish they put the SIM slot in glove box... It is better in trunk but still need to lift the cargo cover. And on XC60 I need a small screwdriver to open the tiny cover.

In the v60 it's underneath the glove box.

      2 questions for you all.

      1. is the sim tray unlocked, as in can I put an international SIM in it and use the data connection overseas?

      2. If yes to the first questions does the first part mean Volvo On Call will try to use the Personal SIM data connection first and if that is unavailable it will default to the integrated one? (thus meaning I'd be able to use VOC overseas with a International data connection, OR a US Sim card where the data works overseas?)

      1. Yes, it is unlocked. However the modem is GSM and use frequency bands of USA carriers. Your international SIM has to be GSM and match the carries there.

      2. VoC traffic will always go through VOC SIM I think. Not sure if it will use the personal SIM ever. My hunch is it will if VOC SIM doesn't work in the region. Also US SIM needs data roaming service to be used overseas.

I called Verizon about getting a sim card and they won't issue one for the car. Only a device they support. The guys over the phone seemed shocked when I said it was for my car.

That's good to know! Most carriers in Germany are GSM and use pretty much the same LTE bands as the states. I think there are 3 or 4 that are different. I also have a U.S. T-mobile line that has data roaming built in. This would be an interesting experiment...

Google Fi SIM works, but I needed an adapter to make it fit.
