      ckmack's 2017 Bursting Blue V60 T6 R-Design thread

Hey would ya look at that, I bought another car! After driving my beater 06 XC70 for a year and a half, I have decided to funnel my money into a better daily driver. Something with technology, safety features, a great stereo, and more. This means my XC70 and Flash Green V70R are going to be hitting the market soon. I make trips to Vermont semi-regularly, and have just started a new job, so the amenities are going to be greatly appreciated.

This isn't my first foray into the P3 chassis, I had a Rebel Blue 2013 S60 R-Design a few years ago. I never fell in love with the 6 speed transmission and transverse 6 cylinder in that car, and I have had the previous two weekends to drive this new V60 and I can already tell that I like it a lot more! The supercharger gives it some nice throttle response at the low end, it isn't so nose-heavy, it will give me 32mpg on the highway for those long trips, and the 8 speed transmission is much smoother. Not to mention, the extra room that the V60 offers will be nice. Coming from the 2013 S60, I also add a heated steering wheel, a heated windshield, and the Volvo On-Call app. These are all super noticeable this time of year. Luckily CPO gives 1 year complimentary of VOC.

Even though I don't work at the dealership anymore, I am still close with them and knew about this incoming from the auction right from day 1. It was owned by a 60 year old realtor from CT. I got to oversee and make sure some light PDR got done, the wheels got refinished to fix a little rashing, and that it didn't go through the reconditioning facility (I can do much better than them). This also means I got a very good deal on the car all said and done, and also get an extended 10 year CPO warranty with unlimited mileage. Can you say road trip car??

      Here she is:

I've already gotten started on some modifications, I will update soon!

Nice! Add some polestar front winglets, black out the chrome trim and you'll be off to an awesome start! Just my $.02

Nice V60, love the color. Interesting to hear your feedback on the old T6 vs new 4 turbo/supercharged 4. I would have thought you'd be more pro-6 traditionalist. That gas mileage is hard to complain about.

The torque of the old T6 was nice, but I think I prefer this setup.

Forgot to mention that this one came from the factory with Polestar optimization. That bumps it from 302 hp to 306, and torque from 295 lb/ft to 317

I'm happy with the white V60 R-Design I picked up last week, but that blue is awesome looking. Congratulations on the new ride!

What's the advantage of cutting the gas cap leash?

I hang mine from the hanger point on the hinge so it doesn't dangle. No need to clip the leash to avoid having it dangle.

Haha I know what you’re describing but this is easy too. Plus in my old car I accidentally knocked the cap in the holder with the nozzle before and it hit against the car

I probably will do this at some point in the future. What process did you use for blacking out the trim? How's it holding up through these New England winters?

So what's her name? Really wish I had a heated steering wheel during these cold months.

I wrapped them in gloss black vinyl. They look perfect 2 winters later!

LED interior domes and license plate lights swapped. Ordered from superbrightleds, great quality stuff

Haven’t bothered with the foot wells and puddle lights yet. May postpone those until a nicer day. Kinda bummed the rear cargo lights seem to be a LED integrated circuit board. Would love to switch them to match the 6500 “cool white” up front. If anyone has a solution, let me know. This is what I’m talking about:

Proclip phone mount. Really impressed with it so far. I was a little disappointed the “bracket” was made out of plastic, I was hoping for metal. But it’s very stout, and very solid on the dashboard. I didn’t love the look of the other options with adhesive on the top of the center stack and I’m glad I went with this one. The position in the car is perfect

Nothing night and day different, but I think it is a little throatier under WOT.

Scheduled an appointment for this weekend for a Xpel Prime XR ceramic tint installation. I believe I'll be doing 35% front (legal limit in Maine), and then 20% for the rear

Thats the P* accessory one isnt it? Do you think it gives more whoosh noise as well? I noticed it in mine compared to stock. Especially in 3rd going up a hill, lots of turbo noise.

I think a little bit more "whoosh." Yeah it's the Polestar Drive-E option.

Installed the charcoal sunglasses holder. Just take a small flathead screwdriver to pop the clips on the handle, and use an 8mm socket on an extension to undo the bolts. Install the sunglasses holder, make sure the clips on it fold under the headliner, and then just tighten the 8mm bolts again. Very easy

Also had this driver's door glossy black moulding replaced by my dealership. The old one had a dent and a scratch so they took care of it for free!

Net pocket install done (the cargo area anyways). The right side is easier than the left. Took me about an hour overall. The key here is measuring many times before drilling holes, mocking it up, using masking tape, and not going in too far with the drill bits.

Going in for ceramic tint tomorrow!

Last night I tried to LED swap the front foot wells and found out they are LED circuit boards as well. I guess the only ones you can actually switch are the dome lights, the puddle lights, and the license plate lights. Oh well, guess I overbought from superbrightleds...

      Looking Great

I have your twin-car. Get all kinds of compliments on the color - I think the XC60 really wears it well.

No major mods yet beyond adding mudflaps... I imagine some might cringe it the idea of putting them on THIS model, but I just prefer the form and function, especially the reduced road spray.

Awesome! Yeah I will definitely add them come spring time. Goal will be to give it a really good clean, polish, and wax. And then I would like to add the mudflaps and the OEM rear bumper cover

Not much going on this week, took the V60 to VT this past weekend and forgot to take a single picture haha

Noticed this tint defect in the left rear door, and they were apologetic and will get me in soon to fix it

Also registered it today, went with my ole T6R plates from the S60. Car desperately needs a bath
