      Steering Rack Recommendation?

Looking to replace my steering rack. This is the 4th time, now at 325,000 miles. Looking for recommendations for current brands that seem to hold up well, around 75K-100K+ miles that don't break the bank and are not chinese made. Historically, I have always used Volvo blue box rebuilt, but current prices are exceeding $1100+ for a TRW rebuild model, I don't see spending that this time around.

Car-Done crap is a no go for me. Anyone have luck with Mavel, Detriot axle rebuilt, Atlantic steering gear or rackdoctor.net for rebuilt units?

      Thanks.

I put a rack dr. on my platinum wagon just over 3 years ago. So far, so good.

      Steering Rack Recommendation?

Why not just reseal your rack? That’s what I did. Ordered seals through a local hydraulics shop.

If that’s too much labor for you, these folks have an SMI unit, at least for a ‘98, for $740.

TRW for $325 not counting core charge. Lifetime warranty too.

Racks are cross compatible SMI or TRW as far as input/output and mounting. The inner tie rods change, nothing else matters.

I thought about resealing, but I think the rack is beyond that at this point. The leak is so severe that I refill it and after sitting overnight, the ps reservoir is nearly empty.

Plus, I understand that the only easy side to reseal is the passenger side. Mine appears to be flowing out the drivers side and the passenger side is only a slow drip.
