      Very interesting thread...

Has anyone in the US been able to reset the battery thing (BMS) ? I've checked with Autozone and Firestone, they don't reset anything when changing the battery.

Plenty of people here in the US have reset the BMS either manually or with VIDA. Places like AZ and Firestone don't really know what they're dealing with.

I've done it with the rear fog light and hazard light trick described here somewhere. There is also a reference to a Youtube video. So yes, it can be done.

Other scanners like the icarsoft product can reset the BMS.

Look on your headlamp selector switch.

Watch the video. The button you push is for the rear fog lights (lights up the tail lights brighter).

It does not increase the intensity of the tail lamps.

There is one exclusive bulb for the rear fog indicator, and it is only in the driver's side lamp assembly.

I think this may vary with model year. Our '16s both have 2 rear fog bulbs.

I presume the regulations changed in the E.U. recently and manufacturer's started adding them on both sides.

Before, there was supposed to be only one fog lamp implemented on the driver's side of the car so as to not confuse following drivers into thinking that the forward car is pushing their brakes.

In the U.S., we don't have rear fog regulations so it's a moot point.

Also, I think the regulations/thinking have changed more than once over time. My 1984 240DL had rear fogs on both sides, my 1993 850GLT had driver's (left) side only with a bar blocking the hole in the right side tail light, and my 2016 S60 has rear fogs on both sides.

I remember that was the case for my 850s, so your statement was definitely correct, but that may not be the case anymore. Last I checked, there isn't a separate bulb on my car, but I'm also just realizing that I've got different tail lights than you and the OP (V60 and S60), so we might both be correct. This is how the 2015.5 V60 manual describes the rear fog lights:
"The rear fog lights are considerably brighter than the normal taillights and should be used only when conditions such as fog, rain, snow, smoke or dust reduce visibility for other vehicles to less than 500 ft. (150 meters)."
