I haven't selected a paint stripper yet. Definitely tape it off and use a q-tip.

I have a 15.5 S60, and realize this is a different forum, but my auto dim mirror required replaced. It solidified around the edges, so I'm guessing your only option is to replace the mirror when defects start appearing.

Read in another thread for P3 it is not tied to all the other stuff P2s are plagued with, so replace at will!

After the replacement with the non-compass glass, it doesn't seem like dimming is working. I'm holding a flashlight to the rear light sensor and covering the front, anti-dazzle doesn't seem to change. That being said, it seems like the default level of dimming is pretty decent and I can actually see out of it now.

May or may not have found a spare compass mirror for $40, might try swapping in the appropriate glass to see if it dims again. My old glass was gross but it dimmed

You can convert to a manual mirror by swapping your electronics over to a manual mirror unit.

You must keep your mirror electronics or face remote lock & sunroof issues. The only fix is to buy a new one.
This is true, all though you can have the dealer use a program to recognize the new mirror, then the lock and sunroof will work
