That's what I was told, yeah. I can handle the VIDA part and stuff, just need someone who's familiar to show me what to do. Shut up and take my money if you know V-dash!

Lately, I've been socially distancing closer to my Volvo Here are some updates!
(All this work was done using current social distancing guidelines in effect)

First was seeing why my sunroof stopped retracting. Turns out a little piece of plastic bushing got loose and was jamming the assembly. Sunroof work is always lovely

It's now making some popping noises while going back, will try a new (used) motor to see if that helps.

Next up was my driver seat that had lost all lumbar support. Really really not comfortable on long journeys

The lumbar is controlled by two cables that terminate at the knob on the side of the seat for adjustment. Turns out one of them got loose because the end broke off I took some some hog rings to it and made it work (not pictured)

      (center of the picture)

Next up was installing some IPD V70R Track Spec sway bars. Unfortunately due to a packing error they sent me a 240(?) rear instead of a front
Thankfully they paid for shipping back.

While I was under the car I noticed that since I installed my down pipe my rear o2 sensor was hitting my driveshaft. I contacted the manufacture and they explained this happens sometimes and the fix is a O2 sensor spacer. That solution wasn't ideal for me, so I returned the DP.

Of course removing the down pipe I broke a bolt (it was just out a month ago!!)

I went for a walk around the neighborhood and saw my old TDI that I sold 3 years prior! Loved this thing, ALH motor, PP520 Injectors, euro recaro seats (red inserts), GTI brakes, the whole 9

Now it was time to turn my attention to the interior. I purchased a Leathermagic dye kit a few weeks back and finally decided it was time to try it out!

Before (a doggo lived on that back seat for many years)

      Center Console:

      After:

      Work station

The finish isn't very homogenous, so maybe I wasn't doing something 100% right, but once dried up it looks pretty good:

      Installed (pre-leather conditioner):

And a few days later with the (supplied) leather conditioner applied:

      (to be continued)

Which brings me to the final project of this update: Suspension!! After a lot of research I opted for new 4C paired with TME springs. I had contacted Viva about the springs in February and they told me they were out of stock (in the country). a few days/week goes by and George emails me telling me he found a set

Started with the rears (using the ratchet strap trick from Alex's Bistein thread)

Loosen the top bolts, stick a ratchet strap between the lower arms and crank away. This will give you enough clearance to get the rear shocks out

(rear shocks were leaking and pretty tired)

      TME VS OE Rears

I ended up putting a breaker bark in the rear lower arms to push down event a bit more. Ended up with some of my body weight on it! This ended up working out well though

Fronts were cake. TME VS OE:

      Installed:

Set my sum calibration and went for a ride. THESE RIDE GREAT!! Really love the feel so far. Couldn't push the car much because rain and you know the pandemic going on.

I did one mod that I haven't mentioned here. Did anyone spot it?

I've done the lumbar fix, that was a PITA! I did mine with the seat still in the car though. That leather dye looks amazing, leather magic you said? $$$?

Dudes like Julien are the kind that should be getting FCP sponsorship rather than those that make their introduction by claiming they are going to build a M3 killer.

      Amazing thread you have here.

Your love of cars and documenting this journey is inspiring from as a guy who just does oil changes, brake pads, and filters. I cant wait to tinker on my own v70 one day. Also a new member on swedespeed there are so many things to read and research...its crazy I only found your feed after finding your youtube page first, but now I'll be following the progress.

You should have made youtube videos with crappy intro music, grandiose plans you had no idea of how to implement, give up on that, send the car off to get all the work done somewhere else, and maybe you too could have an FCP deal.
