      Poor door handle lock/unlock response?

Been having increasing difficulty with getting the door to lock/unlock using the door handle. Don't know if it has to do with the weather (live in NY), but I need to try multiple times, with multiple hands with multiple handles to get the car to lock/unlock. I used to get a better response when using the rear door handle than the driver door, but even that door is pretty unresponsive now. I also exclusively use the sports/activity key fob, not the regular key fob. It's always in my pocket, usually without any other phones/cards or possibly interfering devices. Anyone else have this problem? Found a fix?

If you use the normal FOB for a day-or-two, do you have the same problem?

My thought being, as batteries get weaker (in your sports FOB), their ability to communicate with your car becomes more irratic before they finally give out. I just replaced the FOB battery in my Mom's Honda not two weeks ago with similar symptoms to what you report, and it resolved all her concern. Good luck!

Just to note that this may be a sign of diminished battery. The regular FOBs have a CR2032 battery that is easy to replace but the sport key does not contain a replaceable battery. I read my owners manual re: this and you have to take it to a Volvo dealer to have it de-activated and you purchase a replacemnt key that they then assign to your car. The deactivation prevents the old sports key from opening your doors by someone else.

tech bulletin says make sure phones are more than 4 inches from keys or they can interfere. that being said, its probably the sport key battery getting weak. dealer will warranty, and i would start carrying the main key because it has a back way into and to start the car if the battery in the key goes too low. though i guess with voc app, can get in that way(if you have cell service) and sport key should read in the center console spot

I figured it might be the battery in the sports fob, it'd be such a hassle to go to the dealership to get it replaced, was hoping someone else might have had similar experiences and a diy solution lol

Phone in the same pocket as key's always causes me problems. I also have a small RFID blocking credit card holder, this too causes an issue when in the same pocket as key. Remove and everything works as expected.
