      1997 850 T5 - how to tell

Hey guys. Found a clean 850 that the seller says is a T5. It says 850 Turbo on the hatch. Is this a true T5? Looks the part, just want to make sure it is what its claimed to be. Any other way to tell? I have not seen it in person yet. Thanks in advance

Ask for a picture of the engine and look for the charge pipe.

This car has the badge and the wheels so that's a good start!

In the US, the '97 T5 was the non-R high-pressure turbo.

It could be a '96 "Turbo", which was the same as the '97 "T5".

It's also possible that the tailgate has been replaced.

      well

It should have a turbo gauge on the dash upper left, it could have replaced dash panel, but that is pretty darn unlikely

Itís a 96. Talked about that specific car with another member earlier today.

Still a good car and essentially identical to a 97. If itís not hashed, worth picking up as a project

Are you local to the area? I was wondering if anyone seen the car in person.

I wonder if it's the same member I talked to? It's over an hour from me and I was willing to meet seller part way.
Decent price if it's not all jacked up. One roof bar? Who does that?? And the steering wheel cover is...groovy.

Odd quirks here and there really make it a surprise if there's a nice, protected car underneath it all once you get through all the knickknacks.

From the short conversation I had with the seller, I do not think he is a 'Volvo guy'. Looks like he sells cars on the side. I was wondering the same thing about the roof rack. Is it just scratching the roof all to hell? I am about 2 hours away from him, might take a trip this weekend to check it out.
