      2stroke 2.0 led headlights

From The Retrofit Source. Originally meant for my c30 however the light output in projector housings is actually less than halogen. Lucky for me the xc60 is also H11. The best part is I did not have the cut out the back of the housing to accommodate the fan housing. And, I don't get a bulb out warning like I did on the c30. Haven't driven at night yet but expectations are high. 2nd pic is halogen on the passenger side and led on the driver side.

Interested to know more about this LED conversion. These are from Morimoto and 5700K color temperature with Philips Z ES leds. $120/pair with 3 year warranty. Are they plug and play or require any mods? I think the most important thing to know is the beam pattern and how closely it resembles the original bulbs.

Did you have to split the headlight housings?

No it's entirely plug and play took
About 10 minutes total. I'll try and post some beam pictures later tonight.

If you still have 1 side with halogen, a pragmatic but not perfect test is to point the vehicle on a road without any street lighting. Cover one headlight and see how many distant objects on the same lane and on the opposite lane far ahead are visible. Do the same for the other one.

I say this because foreground illumination and glare (that is excess illumination above the allowed horizontal directions) may confound the usefulness of a lighting upgrade.

And since LED emitters have different geometry compared to halogen filaments, results of this kind of PnP LED can vary greatly depending on the OE reflector design, even if they are for the same halogen bulb type.

Looking forward to your findings. Just researching these without direct experience: The Morimoto 2Stroke 2.0 has been available for over a year with mostly positive reviews. 4 out of 5 stars. The heat sink base and ballast are much smaller than the previous version. The LEDs are also better and now from Philips. Poor reviews seem to fall into two categories: 1) immediate failure suggesting electronic incompatibility, or 2) buyers who think the fan is noisy. Overall, there are positive reviews in various different vehicles and many who state the fan noise is not an issue. To me, that indicates drawbacks may be model specific. So, if the beam pattern looks good in the XC60 and fan noise is not noticeable, this may be the upgrade some of us have been wanting. The 3-year warranty makes it a reasonable alternative to third-party whiter/brighter halogens, although the cost is 2x as much. Any other perspective?

Aah my bad, when I read Morimoto I was thinking projector retrofits LOL. I've been looking at these...

... but I'm also concerned about stray light and glare to oncoming drivers. Looking forward to your impressions.

What is the light pattern? Good with great vision or scattered and pisses off every car you meet? I have tried some of these that made a lot of light but I don't inspect transformers up on power poles so the light pattern did me no good.

      2stroke 2.0 led headlights

Sorry for the delay. Downroad lighting is amazing since we tube 2 lane country roads at night. No one ever flashes us so I'm assuming we aren't blinding oncoming traffic. I've driven ahead and looked in my rear view from my car and it's acceptable.

They use magnetic levitating fan blades, not sure how much that really effects the noise but it's a cool selling point. You you don't hear them, with the engine off I think you can though but it's not that noticeable
