      Vida for 2016+ p3 cars

Write model, year and market if you send me a PM with your VIN.

As promised in What did you do with your s60/V60 (2011+) today? thread. Weekend is here and I had a few hours for writing this down.

P.S. If someone know how to make the pictures smaller let me know and I will edit this post.

Here is the deal breaker. I figure out how to connect VIDA 2014D to my (new ) 2016 S60 and I think this procedure (reserve at least an hour if you're confident with changing data in a database) should work for all P3 cars.
Before I provide detailed instructions, enter don't do this warning:

I provide NO guarantee and if you damage your computer/car I'm not taking any responsibility for this.

      Here is the guide:
      1. Download and install Microsoft SQL Server Express 2014 (if using windows 7)
        1. https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/down....aspx?id=42299
        2. Download SQL Management Studio (MgmtStudio 64BIT\SQLManagementStudio_x64_ENU.exe for 64bit system)
      2. Open the SQL Server Management Studio and open the “basedata” database
      3. I will provide directions to add 2016 S60 to the database. Read through the following and modify the information for your own car. You might have to modify the bold text.
        1. Note that the VIN: LYV402FM7GB092244 in not accepted by VIDA. We will modify the database to recognize this VIN.
      4. We will tell VIDA that this VIN is a part of 2015 model year. First we have to find ID of 2015 model year in “dbo.ModelYear”. Right click on dbo.ModelYear and select “Select Top 1000 Rows”. 2015 model year has ID “1205”.
      5. Similarly list “dbo.VehicleModel” and find the ID of your car. S60 has the ID 1038.
      6. Similarly list “dbo.VINDecodemodel”. This table is used to determine the model and year of a car based on your VIN. We will have to locate a similar car (understand VIN comparisons) that fails ONLY because of the year code in the VIN. We will modify a record that matches our car in everything but the YearCode field.
        1. Modify the SELECT statement to add a filter on your vehicle model by adding “where fkVehicleModel=1038” at the end of the statement. Click F5 to apply this filter.
        2. Scroll through the fields until you find your ModelYear (in the fkModelYear column). Now you have to compare your VIN. Read the data in VinCompare column. This string has to match your car’s VIN between the VinStartPos and VinEndPos positions. Below you can see that the highlighted row matches my VIN since FM is at 7th and 8th position in the VIN.
        3. Looking at the rest of the row, the ChassisNoFrom and ChassisNoTo (chassis number from and to) doesn’t contain our car. The chassis number (last 6 digits, 092244 in our case) is lower than 332000.
        4. The YearCodePos tells you the position of the year code in the VIN. The highlighted row doesn’t correspond to our car because our 10th digit is “G”.
      7. We now modify this row to match our VIN. We will lower the ChassisNoFrom to include 092244 and change the YearCode. Fortunately, I don’t need VIDA to read 2015 cars so I’m going to modify this row. It might be the case that VIDA will stop reading 2015 S60 cars because of this modification. The row ID is -2042382967 (from the picture the first number in the row)
        1. Right click on dbo.VINDecodeModel and select “Edit Top 200 Rows”
        2. We need to add a filter to show only the one particular row. Click on Show SQL Pane button (in red box)
        3. Add “WHERE ID = -2042382967” and execute the statement by Ctrl+R or by hitting this button:
        4. Edit the fields as mentioned before.
        5. Click on the next row for the changes to save. The red exclamation marks should disappear.
        6. Restart your computer (or restart SQL server and VIDA), enter your VIN.
      8. Enjoy VIDA and if you feel thankful you can buy me a beer: https://www.buymeacoffee.com/jewY8ab

This is my own work but I got the idea from discussion on facebook from 2018 facebook.com/groups/1921217794833193/permalink/2149268555361448/

      Cheers and enjoy your Volvo!

I don't have all the knowlege on the differences between 2016 - 2018 P3 VIN numbers and it would probably take some serious time to add these changes for all possible combinations. I did provide a way to modify some of the data to read your own VIN.

I would recommend downloading 2014D from here: https://forums.swedespeed.com/showth...-Download-Link
and then changing the database based on the guide I wrote.

WOW! I wonder if it would work for my2018 s60 but after reading your instructions I have some doubts if I would be able to modify the DB on my own.

Wrote this myself and posted to both Swedespeed and matthewsvolvosite. Not going to argue with someone on the internet the second time. If you don't believe me then check the comments here https://www.facebook.com/groups/1921...7582727530027/

And I did give credit to the Facebook post where I got the idea from.

Also, if you have Windows 10 then you cannot use the tool I referenced to update the database. For Windows 10 use one that is here: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/sql...l-server-ver15

Do NOT install SQL server or you will break your VIDA.

Works! In the table VINDecodeModel change rows with ID: -2042382989, -2042382987, -2042382983, and -2038064559
YearCode should be changed to J and it reads the car as S60 MY2015.

Hi Zjev - I'm a little confused as to the steps for Win10. I've got my old 2014D disc and a new laptop. Originally I was planning on setting up a VM with Win7, but then saw another VM with Win10, vs installing directly. Not sure which way to go.

For your 2016+ fix, does it matter what version of SSMS I install? Anything special for V60 (instead of S60)?
      https://sqlserverbuilds.blogspot.com...udio-ssms.html

      I found RickHaleParker's thread "INTALLING VIDA 2014D FOR THE FIRST TIME WINDOWS 10 HOME" https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...ic.php?t=84636 & https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/fo...83834&start=50

Seems the repack and 2099 patch fixed the timeout issues?

      Askulte,

I would just use a VM if i was you. Installing VIDA is PITA and if you have it in a VM you can save it, made the changes and if something goes wrong you can always load the last saved state.

The new version of SSMS won't let you edit the database on Win 7. So you have to use the old version for Win 7 and the new one for Win 10.
The management studios are more or less identical for what you need to do in them.

zjev, Roxana's VM worked fantastic - thanks. It now has a Win10 version. I downloaded SSMS 18.4, copied it onto the VM by adding a shared drive, installed SSMS, and followed your instructions (VIN was within range for our 2016 V60, and I changed the 2015 Year Code from F to G). VIDA took the VIN (when I changed to the AME partner group).

Crossing my fingers it works when I try connecting with DICE tonight!

Thanks for making & sharing this tutorial.

      Sorry, I missed your message...

You want to just edit the database. Once you edit it the changes are saved right away. It's a bit different than let's say editing MS Word file.

Yup. I had people from this forum using VIDA on their 2018 S60. If it is P3 it should work!

Is it possible to modify VIDA 2015A so that it reads the P3 platform 2016/2017/2018 without giving a specific vin.
that it would read from the machine

The tutorial I wrote above explains how to do it - buy you need to know the VIN. It would theoretically be possible to do all the changes and upload VIDA somewhere but I'm not going to spend the time doing it. I would rather help other members to figure out how and what they have to change.

And then restart vida. You will have to select your engine and transmission - this might mean that there might be more issues with making it work. Let me know if it works.

No problem, sorry for the delay..
It might have been enough to change one row but you would have to see which one corresponds to Europe.
