I'm running 255/45/20 on 20x8.5 ET40 Fast FC05. They are exact same height as my OE 235/65/17. I don't need tires this year yet but started researching a bit regardless. I found the swedespeed project XC90 article said 265/45/20 was recommended by HEICO. It's oversize... Anyone running 265/45/20 or 275/40/20? What rim width and offset?

I am contemplating the 265, but they're considerably more expensive than the more common 255 it seems.

I asked HEICO about that recommendation and they replied: "just 265/45R20 and 275/40R20 (275 just with 5 mm Spacer) are possible and allowed to install on the XC90 type 275 with our rim. These sizes are checked and confirmed from European and German audit and testing organisations. Please understand, if a tuner like HEICO develop a rim. The rim must be a bit bigger; the tire must be a bit wider than a OE rim from car manufacture. Customer expect this and decides for a rim from a tuner."

I'm running 275/45-R20 Pirelli Scorpion Verde A/S on Volvo OE Cratus (20 x 8, +49mm offset).

The clearance with the front strut lower spring seat is tight, but no rubbing.

Even another size, larger too. Ok, I'll include this as well in my comparisons. Thanks for the reference.

Just ordered some 275/40/20 BF Goodrich g- FORCE COMP-2 A/S PLUS as they were on sale yesterday at Costco (Canada).

Hoping they'll fit without issue on my 8.5" ET40 rims. Technically too wide for 8.5" wheel, although 275/45/20 is ok on 8.5" due to taller sidewall.

I know that I rubbed the outer fender liner when i tested 25mm spacers with the 255/45/20 tires but these will be 15mm inboard of that configuration.

Anyone have direct experience with rim width and offset details?

Photo is regular price in C$. Sale was 20% off.

So, these mounted up fine and no rubbing so far - haven't taken any sweet jumps yet though [emoji14]

Very little bulge and they are actually only marginally wider than the 255/45R20 Conti DWS06 I had - apparently on the wide side for a 255.

Updated my build thread, they do rub in the rear when vehicle loaded up. Not sure what I'm going to do just yet.
