      Eyeing an 04 XC70: What Do I Need to Know?

      I have a friend that is looking to replace his 2004 XC70 soon, and wanted to sell it to me for dirt. The car has ~260,000 miles, and I know he hasn't done any maintenance, just repairs.

      My plan is to do all the maintenance myself, and use it as a daily to keep miles off my 99 (I love bringing cars back from the brink of death xD ).

      Now, I've never had a P2 before (I've been driving P80s for a decade). What are common problems on the 04 XC70 to look for, is there anything that should be a deal breaker? I know the PCV system is a no brainer. I also have a knock-off VIDA to really see if and what is going on.

      AWD stuff pretty much. Other than that, xc's like to break front springs. Lots of bushings in P2s that end up being a royal pain to replace but are ultimately worth it. Give it a scan, if the vida readout doesnt scare you, pick er up.

      Timing belt/tensioner/water pump will be due for the second time if not already done.

      10y/100k interval. So due by mileage twice but only once by time. Safe to just do it and reset the clock on that. Belt kit is $150 versus a crashed head being $1500
