I’m a retired Audi tech and I can’t remember the old Audi Quattro‘s having vapor lock problems because the fuel line was just right up against the engine and it could be a nightmare and I’ve heard some guys take the engine covers off to allow the heat to escape that gets trapped under the plastic engine covers and they’re just cosmetic anyway has anyone done this?
No and heat like vapor lock is not an issue in the XC90. Remember, those covers are not just cosmetic or sound, but to help protect against the elements, such as water, salt, and dirt. I wouldn't want a wiring harness, ignition coil, or the like getting gunked up or wet.
