      Steering Wheel Logo

I just bought a 08 T6 AWD and if I remember correctly the Volvo logo on the steering wheel said Volvo in blue. Does anyone know where this can be found?

      Thanks inadvance,
      Chris

Any authorized Volvo dealer or parts supplier now sells them. Part no 31467395. Try tascaparts.com if you don’t have a dealer near you.

Might even be one of the ones under good will replacement. Worth asking at least. Volvo has done free replacements for some steering wheel and front grill logos to help keep the brand looking good. If you do have to buy em, I only paid a few bucks to get a pair (so I could make my computer speakers "Volvo" branded rather than Amazon Basics.)

Would that fit an 08 steering wheel? looking up online it seems that one is for 2010+ which has the redesigned steering wheel with a slightly larger emblem.

I believe there are three different sizes corresponding to 8mm, 9mm, and 10mm. Two or possibly all three had the same part number. When you give your VIN to the dealer, they will know which one fits your car. My 2008 has one from Dave Barton that fit and it is 8mm x 35mm.

Good to know. I too have the Dave Barton one on my 08. It looks good but not factory/stock, especially in direct sunlight. That's why I was curious about switching it.

I tried ordering 31467395 from my local dealer but they told me it was the wrong emblem for my chassis. That one is for CH 113001-195000. They told me Volvo doesn't sell the correct one any more for my VIN... Anyone have luck finding the correct item for earlier years?

Had mine done before Volvo got smart and had the stickers, they replaced the whole airbag under warranty

Is it the case that prior to 31467395 being a thing you could purchase individually, the only solution was replacing the whole airbag kit? Ugh.

Check online at sites that have more than one version. For example, these two sell by size or year. The 2008 version should be 8mm x 35mm.

Hm, that first link looks promising. The second one appears to use the same system as all the dealers do, and shows the part number as only for chassis numbers 113001-195000. Thanks!

I don’t think so, mine was before they had the stickers available.

No, just poor quality for a couple of years. If you bought your car used and it has a polydome emblem instead of flat decal, it probably came from Dave Barton.

Volvo had a similar issue with front grill logos around 2014-2015. Volvo ignored customer complaints and had no simple solution while too focused on making owners bring cars to the dealer for replacement. It took many years of complaints about the front grill emblem before Volvo offered replacement decals as goodwill. They admitted it was poor adhesive and made the new version thicker, but you still had to go to a dealer.

For the steering wheel emblems, a Volvo enthusiast named Dave Barton sold his own polydome versions since Volvo did not offer any replacement at all. After many years helping to keep Volvo cars presentable, Volvo threatened to sue Dave Barton for trademark infringement. He notes on his website they are no longer being sold, but you can still see examples along with measurements for your car.

Mine doesn`t look like a dome or decal. It appears inset into the cover.

Only the blue label flakes off and you don’t have that problem.

It's not a decal like shown by Thommykent. I went to my local dealer and they replaced the Airbag. Thanks everyone for the help.

Problem has been discussed in more than a dozen threads over the years, including pics. It’s not only S80 models. If your dealer replaced your airbag for free on a ‘08 like some did, instead of the $3 decal, good for you.

Mines not a decal, it`s a plastic piece inset to the airbag. Look closer. The Blue VOLVO is part of the piece. It`s the early version steering wheel, maybe that`s why

Thommykent - yes but the blue VOLVO piece is what starts flaking off, and it can be taken off and replaced.

      See this example:

The original blue looks like paint around the embossed “Volvo”. It has a thin clear film on top that fell off mine two days after I bought the car used. It was only a matter of time before the blue flaked off. First a little corner, then a big piece, like the pic above. If I could find my old post, I would have just posted the link. These cars are 12 years old now, which is one reason to search old threads. Most owners have moved onto other cars.

There are a lot of options on ebay, I replaced mine recently, it was a fairly straight forward job < than 5 mins. How we miss Dave Barton in times like this.

Received and installed the one from https://www.myvolvoparts.com/Volvo-E...m_p_18990.html today. It seems they bought a bunch of Dave Barton's stock for resale before he stopped selling them -- it's clearly like his poly dome replacement style emblem, not the original metal emblem. Or are the original Volvo replacement emblems also the domed style now?

Fine, "metal style" emblem. I'm sure we're all glad that Volvo didn't put metal on the front of the airbag. But it is styled to look metal. In any case, the emblem that the Volvo dealer sent me sure looks like Dave's poly style and not the original.

The one Volvo sent you isn`t even close to Dave Barton`s. Volvo`s has raised letters and Dave`s is domed poly. It`s an obvious difference. Time to get out the glasses.

I feel like we're going in circles. I expected Volvo to send me one like your top picture, like my original. But they did not. They sent me one like Daves in your lower picture. I'm wondering if maybe Volvo never made the 35x8mm version as a replacement, and this dealer went and bought a bunch of Dave's on their own since Volvo wasn't supplying what they needed.

It shouldn’t be advertised with the Volvo part number and different pic if the seller is doing that. But if the exact size from Volvo no longer exists, what‘s the alternative? Change the airbag, change the steering wheel or buy a $3-$7 emblem. The cars are 10-12 years old. Not a single person other than you will ever notice the difference.

Not complaining about getting a low price sticker -- but it's pretty lame that Volvo forced Dave to stop selling his stickers and now, seemingly, a Volvo dealer is selling Dave's stickers as Volvo.

You clearly say "Received and installed the one from https://www.myvolvoparts.com/Volvo-E...m_p_18990.html today" which is clearly not a poly dome. see how there is confusion, which isn`t surprising since you thought the originals were metal and then backtrack. Anyway who really cares in the end.
