May 15-17 this year!
Order your new stuff, go hunting in the yards, finish your wrenching, clean up the rides and air up the tires!
Oh yeah - stock up on sunscreen just in case, but plan on shorts and flipflops. Trust me - even if cool and rainy, you'll be the warmest one.
Not entirely sure if I'll make it this year, but hoping to. There's a lot going on in May for us and this could be the weekend my daughter returns from a semester abroad, in Europe.
April 13 is the deadline to buy show n' go and get a ten percent discount. It's not much but everything helps. Get it in the mail, put it in the glovebox (*ahem Skywolf*) and drive to the show.
I've showed up the morning of (Saturday) and it sucks to pull into the gravel lot with either dust or mud, with everyone else who is buying same day or didn't buy in time.
Hoping that the crew who worked the last few years with organizing food, etc. is up for the same effort. They do an outstanding job.
It's typically a donation of about 25 bucks and get food and drink for the weekend, and it's a deal that can't be beat. Organized giveaways, sharing, etc. It's always a good time. I'm sure they'll post paypal and informational links if they're in again.
There are the others who make phenomenal spreads in advance and as long as you're in the know and contribute, you might be able to partake.
If you have never been, plan for a muddy mess, or at least *some* rain. Despite last year's sunblast when I got fried, I don't think I've been once in the last 10 years where it didn't rain at some point.
Great time to meet up with people, see some great cars in person, learn and connect. We really should organize simple, cool tees with SS on the front and our SS usernames on the back...anyone have a good contact?
Last year a bunch of us brought regional brews to share. Good fun. Bring a chair or two, and a canopy if you can, especially the wagon guys.
Finally, PLEASE organize yourselves under Volvos at Carlisle when you register. The larger groups that are all organized get bigger spaces on the showfield and a bigger tent!
