      Taillight replacement

Could anyone with access to the Volvo documentation please share with me instructions on replacing the right rear taillight assembly?

I would greatly appreciate the information, thanks!

Subscribing to VIDA online solves everything

      Hi
Do a search on here for taillight removal or similar. There are a number of lengthy discussions on how to change them and remove what is required. If I remember rightly, the whole rear end has to be stripped out, rear bumper, inside panels and there are a number of "nut or bolts" that are in "tight" places that need care otherwise they may drop into the dark cavities in the bodywork. Just be patient and work through it without rushing.
The other thing to search maybe "swapping out taillights" or "changing rear lights to European ones" (red to amber blinkers). The lenses are red to look at but blink amber here in Aust and Europe, when the blinker is active they appear as amber through the "red blinker section" in the lenses, unlike the US that has "red in red".
      Hope that helps.
Cheers from "down under" Australia... s5156

No, sorry, that doesn't provide any insight into how to remove/install the part.

Thank you for the images. I assume there's lots more info for this procedure through VIDA? The dealer made it sound like it was basically tearing half the car apart, and these images don't make it seem THAT bad.

I would subscribe to VIDA, myself, but they not accepting new registrations, at this time :-(

Exactly, you have to disassemble half the rear of the car to replace the taillight , including rear bumper
An odd and somewhat stupid solution

Hi have a look at this thread:
European owners: Do the tail lights blink amber/orange?

Whilst it's about swapping the rear lights out from Red to Amber this involves removal of the whole light assembly etc. (about the blinker sections and how they appear in different markets around the world) it has some very detailed info and pictures anout how to remove and replace rear lights.

Got it installed, today. Used the (free) Volvo hitch installation instructions and it had 99.8% of the info I needed. The three pieces that weren’t covered by the hitch instructions were intuitive and easy to figure out.
