      VIDA Dice communications question

So without Vida even being opened on the computer, but withe the device plugged into obd2 and the USB port... should the computer be able to recognize the dice unit?

I would think so... I am in a battle with Chinese company that when I plug it in, my computer doesn’t even recognize it. In the USB controllers, I get unknown device (code 43, invalid device descriptor)... the top light flashes green slowly and the bottom light flashes amber rapidly.

Very old DiCE clones came with firmware incompatible with Windows 7+. Find a computer with 2000/XP/Vista and see how it goes there. If the scanner is recognized, you may then update the firmware, and it will work in Windows 7/8/10/etc.

      Thanks... thats interesting...

had a helluva time finding win 7 drivers for mine.... now i have to go back further....but ill try it at some point....nothing to lose... if it works, I basically got a free dice unit minus the hassle.

      Thanks

Yes, when the DICE unit is plugged into the car, it receives power and turns on. Then, once you plug in the USB cable it will show up in the device manager. There should be no errors.
