      What transmission is in these?

Hello group. Ok, from what I have read, the 2002 S80 T6 has the GM transmission, I hear only the 5 cylinders have the Aisin transmission. However, I did a decode here https://www.vindecoderz.com/ on a car I am considering buying and it says it has the AW55-50SN Transmission. Is that decoder site just full of it or did a few of these cars come out with an AIsin transmission?

And BTW the car is being sold fairly cheap. Reverse gear is gone on it.

The 6 cylinder comes with the GM, the 5 cyl with the Aisin. The Aisin wouldn't fit with the 6, the block was too long, so they went with the GM which could not handle the torque - especially from the Twin Charge.

2004 late and 05/06 were 5 cylinder cars.

Thb, I replaced my failed tranny around 115K. I bought it at 95K. So I killed it in 20K miles. When I put the new one in, I installed a tranny cooler. I've put 100K on the replacement with hard shifting and only a small shudder in the 1-2 gear so far. It might not be a great tranny, but you can improve it's longevity under stress. Sample of one - YMMV.

I bypassed the radiator and put a transmission cooler in our 235K 03 Odyssey and flushed with Havoline Synthetic Multi Vehicle.

Installed a Transgo Shift Kit, Filter and flushed with the Havoline Synthetic Multi Vehicle on the 03 S80 T6 with 135K miles. Shifts are quick and instantaneous during WOT. Almost a little snappy off the line but not jolting like the BM Shift Kits of old in my previously owned 78 Cougar XR7 with a 351W. Both vehicles have benefited from the Havoline. The Odyssey has not seen temp over 170 at the cooler even in the summer. Odyssey going on 1.5 years and S80 1 year. The small shudder could be fluid level related. Took a couple tries to finally see where exactly the level was on the stick. Was not to capacity after the Transgo Kit and flush and it shuddered from 1-2.

Shift Kit Install Same GM Trans - Replaced the rubber hose with a transmission or fuel line rubber hose. GM no longer stocks that part and the local Transmission Shop won't tell me what they used.

Good to know! I was going to do a tranny kit years ago. Never got around to it. Still I've put 15 years of tranny beating and it's still going strong after 100k. I'm always auto-shifting that thing.
