if this is true, I'm affected. But the VFC system already worked once.

I agree - my 2019 FC system has gone off at least 3 times since I owned the car and has braked hard all three times. Mind you I purchased it Oct 2018 so the build date is earlier than week 4 of 2019.

Here's the Volvo VIN search to find any recalls on your vehicle.

      https://www.volvocars.com/us/own/add...ll-information

EDIT: sorry this link may only work for North American buyers. I think this only searches recalls registered with NHTSA.

      Here's some more info:
      https://www.hln.be/auto/volvo-roept-...elgie~aeb9c07e

Not terribly informative I'm afraid. Looks like a software issue that spans many Volvo models.

Interesting that it only applies to 2019 and newer models.
And I know that the system works on my 2018 XC60.

Check the black metal plate on the inside of the drivers side door frame. It will give you VIN, Tire Pressure etc info as well as the month and year of manufacture.

Of course there is no recall, first the administrator must create a database on the server with all the VIN numbers relating to Volvo models that have this problem
They need to get that information from the Volvo factory and create a database

      Guys just a warning ... I have a 2018 S90 inscription.

The dealer done the latest update early march, 2020. I confirm that the emergency braking function is not as effective as before the update. I tried multiple occasions where I'm sure I should get a warning, but no warning appeared from the system.

For now, just take extra caution until Volvo give a clear statement regarding the issue, and if old models with the latest update are experiencing the issue as well.

      Thank you for sharing this!!

As the video showed, the car should give you an audible warning, but it will not apply the brakes because of the software issue.

For my 2018 S90, I will need to double check if such exact fault exists. If not, the car should be okay...

I am guessing that Volvo and the NHSTA have not finished registering the problem at this point. Our 2020 has no open recalls.

I heard it was only October 2018+ production. My MY19 was produced before then and I was told it wasn’t affected.

I set the emergency braking (EB) to early warning and intervention. Yesterday I had one occasion and the EB worked. It gave me audible warning and it applied the brakes and stopped the car.

My car is 2018 S90 with the latest update, March 2020.

I have a V90CC (early 2019 model).. the auto break worked for me a few times:
      - sound warning
      - visual red sign on the heads-up-display
      - and break.. not so hard, but it breaks
      - (I'm not sure, but I think the steering wheel also moves a bit to try to avoid collision).

So, I think I'm not affected ("I" had a software update last month)

UPDATE: "...cars produced from Week 4 of 2019.." - I received my car on the first week of Feb.. so it means that was built before the 4th week of 2019 all good!

FWIW: My 2020 XC60 T8 (built week of 11/11/2019) was in for service the past several days, and when I picked it up this morning, they had proactively applied a Total System Upgrade which was for “Recall 29998: Total Upgrade Active Safety Domain (ASDM). Model years 2019-2020, S60, V60, V60CC, XC60, XC40, S90L, V90, V90CC, WC90.”

I assume this is the recall being discussed here, so it can now be applied, although with COVID-19, YMMV as to availability of your local Service to actually do the work for awhile. My Service Advisor told me this is one of the first times he’s seen this recall come up (so IMO it appears to just be rolling out to US Volvo Service in prep for formal communication and the deluge of requests to come. Enthusiasts are just a little ahead of the curve as the info and detail fills out to all the national and service systems.)
