Volvo Recalls Cars, SUVs Because Safety Systems May Not Work

"Vehicles recalled: Volvo S60 and S90 sedans; V60, V60 Cross Country, V90, and V90 Cross Country station wagons; and XC40, XC60, and XC90 SUVs. The vehicles were built between Nov. 9, 2018, and March 11, 2020.

The problem: Volvo started using new hardware for its AEB system, but that equipment might not be compatible with the software installed on certain vehicles built before March 2020. As a result, the AEB system might not detect objects or pedestrians."

Interesting issue, glad they've found it and it's something a simple software update will fix. Too bad the cars can't OTA update! Sadly one thing Tesla has over damn near everyone right now is their ability to update OTA near instantly if a software issue is found.

I'll wait to see if I get notified from the dealer or in the sensus itself.

I might be old school however cars should not be updated over the air when it comes to safety or operational items. Radio, maps, sure my safety system, BCM, ECM never.

Tesla is running fast and loose. Sooner or later this will catch up with them if not already.

You need to bring ur car for oil change anyway they will get it done then this will never change same with Tesla requirement to perform maintenance once a year.

People also have things backwards, only reason why Tesla performers over the air software change / update is that they donít t have enough service technicians or stores and make to many changes to fix all the issues / running changes they got.

People are caught up like itís a benefit, better, or special when Tesla is doing it but we all hate it when our computer, phone, watch or something else is needing an update.

Just my opinion thatís all. But no other safety system is able to by updated over the air in other equipment, machines, devices. But no current mandates in the space allow them to do whatever they want.

Recall is so fresh that Volvo and NHSTA show zero recalls on my S60. However it is involved in the campaign.

I have seen where once in a blue moon the LDA doesn't work. This has happened 2x since I got the car in Jan 2019. What I did was turn it off and turn it on again via sensus and it started to work again. Not sure if related.
