      Downpipe flange and gaskets?

      Hello ya'll

Im busy building a new 3" downpipe for my '05 V50 T5 AWD. The rest of the exhaust is already down

Problem that im facing right now is the downpipe to turbo flange. Cant find any, and with a lockdown coming up it would probably take very long to order a custom one somewhere

Now i found out they offer 2 different kind of gaskets. One like mine is some sort of paper gasket wich sits in a groove in the downpipe flange

But i also found they offer a full metal gasket. Whatsup with this one? Is this one for the later models? Is it also better? Would be easier to make a flange for it instead of making milling a groove etc

Found one for the K24 turbo, wich looks to be the same? Same say it will fit the S40 and V70

      Here's a flange: https://www.atpturbo.com/mm5/merchan...gory_Code=VC30

My plan for my AWD is to buy a cheapo eBay FWD downpipe and modify it. Less work for me, and for $100 it seems like a good starting point.

Yeah problem is that im from the netherlands. Shipping would take long. And the car is without downpipe at the moment. Maybe ill put the oem downpipe back for a moment.

Is that really the right flange though? It looks flat like for the p2. The one Elevate uses is the same as OEM designed for the gasket that sits in this groove as pictured. Keeps the gasket from actually burning away.

The cheap pipes use a basic flat flags like this and a gasket just sandwiches between and eventually that gasket burns away.

I've noticed that the cheapo pipes use a different flange, but does it actually cause problems? If it does, maybe I'm looking for a good flange too.

How does the groove keep the gasket from burning away?

The groove the OEM design has the gasket is not directly exposed to the exhaust gas

I have a KT4 1st gen downpipe...it's got the flat flanges...they didn't know...I didn't know... I'm not actually running a gasket at all it's just bolted right to the turbo outlet. Probably leaks a little. I'm not *that* worried about it but I would have more piece of mind if it was correct.

I have not decided yet. Not much response from some companys over the flange with the virus thing now. Maybe order some somewhere in the us Downside is it would take very long

Does the turbo/dp connection have a step to it? Fwiw that's what my 240 has and it doesn't leak
